"Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man's desire to understand." - Neil Armstrong

I have been here for several months now and the machines continue to rule the planet. But the group of survivors that took me in had began to grow every day. We couldn't go on living like this much longer. Living in fear was no way to exist. There had to be a reason for how all of this began. And more importantly, there had to be a way to end it.

While myself and a few volunteers went on a run for supplies, two members of our group set up some netting. If this netting worked, we could trap one of these runaway machines and maybe learn more about it. "Hurry!" one of the voices called out from the parking lot. "There's a car on it's way!" We loaded up as much food as we could into our satchels and headed out the back door.

The netting served as a spider web as it was made up of wire, an old volleyball net, and rope. Thankfully the car that was trying to attack us was a small one. It revved the engine and spun it's wheel desperately trying to get out of the netting. And then I noticed something I had never seen before. The hood popped open and something weird dropped to the ground.

"Well what do we have here?" "Looks like some kind of robot Commander." "Okay robot, spill it. What's going on here?" "We are from Machina. Our planet's been ruined by all the scrap parts from your space shuttles and satellites for so many years. Life was peaceful for us until you humans started polluting the galaxy." Beep! Beep! Beep!

"Run Irv! It's going to explode!" We dove out of the way just before the robot blew up in front of us. "What was that thing?" he asked. "I'm not sure but I think we should take what's left of him and bring it back for Azar to look at. Maybe, just maybe, we can find a way to defeat these things once and for all."

"So what do you think Azar?" "Very interesting. It appears as if these are cyborgs except they are part alien and part machine." "How can we fight them?" "Based on what I've seen, these things are programmed to self-destruct when they are in danger." "How do we defeat them?" "That I do not know but I'll keep working on it."

"Oh! Oh! Here we go again. How did they find us Azar?" "There must have been a honing device built into their armour." "Take everyone to the underground bunker. I have an idea about how to stop these things." "Be careful Commander." "Life's about taking chances and I'm about to take a major one here. Wish me luck." "Good luck my friend."

"What are you doing here Agent 0? I followed them here but ended up falling down a hole. I think I'm in need of some repairs." "We'll get them soon enough." "You do know that the debris that landed on our planet could've helped make us into a prosperous planet." "What are you talking about?" "Sorry. My circuits were fried by the humans."

The way the aliens worked the machines was really quite ingenious. They would climb in the trunk and connect a few wires to their body. From there they would steer the plane, bus, or whatever they were driving by moving their arms and legs. I followed the caravan of vehicles to what I hoped would be their headquarters.

We arrived at a gigantic garage that housed thousands of vehicles. The other aliens and I silently stood and waited for The King to address us. There were hundreds of them. "All Hail The King!" one of the aliens shouted. "Hail to The King!" we responded. "It's time for the next phase of our plan. We will bring all of the Earth's resources back to our home planet as we rebuild Machina."

My robot suit, which had been hastily reassembled by Azar fell apart when I joined the other aliens in saluting The King. "A human in our midst?" one of the aliens bellowed. "What shall we do with him Your Majesty?" "Put him in the dungeon with the others. I have a surprise in store for them." The others? What others? I was thrown into a cell by two of The King's guardsmen.
