    My name is Mollie. I 

  used to be lost in these 

  mountains.   My family 

  brought me here with 

  them on their vacation 

  last year.

My owner's family rented a cabin in the woods 

for the week.   I was glad they decided to bring 

me along. Since we lived in Texas, I was 

excited to see snow!

Andie, my owner, even brought me my 

own bed to to sleep in.   Since it was so 

cold outside, I was allowed to sleep inside 

Andie's room.

When we went to the ski park, I had to wait for 

my family to get off the ski lift.   I just knew 

that they would be done soon, but before I 

knew it, a snow storm blew in! 

I couldn't see a thing!   It was snowing so hard, 

and covering the ground like a blanket. 

I started to panic, so I started barking as loud 

and long as I could. 

I heard nothing but the sound of wind and 

falling snow.   It was clear, that I was in BIG 

trouble.  

After the snow stopped falling, I found myself 

surrounded by blankets of snow, in a place I 

was not familiar with.  

"Where to start," I asked myself.  

I will need to find my way back to my owner's 

cabin, but I have to survive the trip back!

First, I knew that the sun rises in the east, and 

falls in the west. I decided to start my journey 

in the morning.   Since the mountains are west, 

the sun will rise on the East side, I know which 

way is north.   North is the direction I needed 

to go to find my owner and the cabin. 

Now that I was headed in the 

right direction, I needed to find

water and food so that I would 

have the energy to get me back 

to the cabin. 

After the sun had dried

up the snow, I thought that 

maybe I can   find a river with 

fish that I can catch and eat!

I hoped there would be plenty of 

fish swimming in the cold water

that day.
