For all the students who need cell city analogies for their school projects

One day, Lucy Lipid and her class took a trip to an animal cell to learn about all its different parts and what it takes to keep it running.

Hi everybody, my name is Lucy Lipid and today I am going to tell you about my trip to Cell City.

Before you can enter Cell City, you have to pass through the membrane security that surrounds the city. The membrane security is responsible for controlling what comes into and what goes out of the cell. Their job is to protect Cell City from possible invaders.

Once you have entered Cell City there are so many things to see! The most noticeable building is The Nucleus Building. The Nucleus Building is the center of command in cell city; they are responsible for making sure that everyone in Cell City is healthy and doing their jobs well. The people in the Nucleus Building are also responsible for giving instructions to the people and businesses in the area about how they should be working.

We go to enter The Nucleus Building so that we can see Mr. Nucleolus, but we are stopped by some specialized members of membrane security. These guys are part of the nuclear membrane division. The nuclear division of membrane security is extra careful once you get past them, you are in the most important part of cell city and they need to make sure it is protected.

When we get up to Mr. Nucleolus’ office, he shows us some large specialty filing cabinet called chromosomes. The chromosome cabinets hold Cell City's most important information, the DNA. The DNA inside of the chromosome cabinets contains all the genetic information for the cell; they are the blueprint to building a successful Cell City.

After our meeting with Mr. Nucleolus, we left The Nucleolus Building, but as we were leaving we saw Mrs. Centrioles going into Mr. Nucleolus’s office. When we asked his secretary why, she told us that Mrs. Centrioles was just helping with the division of the city; Mr. Nucleolus had recently decided that his cell city was getting too large and that it would be better off if it was split in half to form 2 identical cell cities. Mrs. Centrioles was just helping him by taking RNA to the other side of Cell City where the new nucleus building will be built as the center of a new Cell City.

We finally left The Nucleus Building and decided to walk around Cell City for a while and explore. As soon as we left The Nucleus Building we were hit with a breath of fresh air. The air in Cell City is special and they have named it cytoplasm. The cytoplasm air in Cell City is special because it has special nutrients and enzymes in it that keep all the people in Cell City happy and healthy.

Eventually we arrive at a Mitochondria Power Plant. Mitochondria is very important to Cell City. Without them, nothing would be able to happen in Cell City because there would be no power to support it. The Mitochondria Power Plants produce a special kind of power called ATP that is used by all of the other inhabitants of Cell City.

After visiting the Mitochondria Power plant, we head over to a Ribosome Manufacturing facility. The Ribosome Manufacturing facility is very important to Cell City because they are responsible for manufacturing all the proteins.

Using the information from the RNA sent to the Ribosome Manufacturing facilities from the nucleolus building, workers at the Ribosome Manufacturing facilities can use amino acids to create all the different types of proteins Cell City needs to function.
