I dedicate this book to my sister for always believing in the things I do. Thank you for being there and being my little Kit Kat. Your uniqueness and silliness keeps me going everyday, and I can not express how much you mean to me.

I Am Poem: I Am a Flower
I am a flower
I wonder when I shall bloom
I hear the others getting picked
I see the light within their smiles
I want to be wanted
I am a flower
I pretend I am bigger but..
I feel so small
I worry I may not be good enough
I cry to be chosen
I am just a flower
I understand that I am one in a million
I say I can be more
I dream to be more
I try to impress you
I hope to be your flower because
I am nothing but a flower, but with you I'm a whole garden of beauty
Bio Poem: Makayla Prochazka
Makayla
Sarcastic, sassy, goofy, adventurous
Daughter of Patrick and Alanda
Lover of coffee, french fries, and music
Who feels enlightened when she receives food, attention, and travel time
Who needs food, sleep, and vacation
Who gives compassion, love, and time to my friends and family
Who fears spiders, clowns, and public speech
Who would like to see the Northern Lights, space, and the Love Lock Bridge
Resident of Santee

Re-Creation Poem: Silence
The dark night stands
The fire burning in my chest
My breath dancing through my teeth
A cold shiver flows through my body
Like someone’s watching me
I glanced up and see
At the end of the hall
Where there is no light at all
There’s a girl
With a soulless smile and frost within her heart
Her eyes are gray and clear as day
They are filled with pain
The pain that tears one apart
Her face missing expression
Blank and emotionless
And it seems that
The more you stare
The closer she appears
There’s a slight fear in the air
That gives you a feeling
That you might be seeing
A vision of a being
A being followed by this feeling
A feeling of connection
When you realize your staring
Staring into the eyes of your own soul
Cold and brittle
Piercing your skin at touch
She says no words
I say no words
We just stare
There’s nothing to be said
Nothing to be done
Just stare into my own eyes with complete silence
Selected words are from Gary Soto’s poem “Oranges”
Stylistic Imitation Poem: Cancer
At ten twenty three in the morning.
It was ten twenty three in the morning.
Died in beauty, like a rose blown from its parent stem
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Mourning had lain thick in the room, like dust
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Cancer took its toll
At ten twenty three in the morning.
The monitor ringed, piercing our ears
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Tears fall upon my face
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Our faces went grey
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Death lays upon a bed and stares back at me
At ten twenty three in the morning.
A soul flew to heaven
At ten twenty three in the morning.
A new guardian angel has arisen
At ten twenty three in the morning.
My heart aches in pain
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Her soul stays afloat
At ten twenty three in the morning
If heaven had a window and God granted me a view
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Of all the beauty it beholds, I'd only look for you
At ten twenty three in the morning.
If I could only view once more the smile that warmed my heart
At ten twenty three in the morning.
I hope that you can hear me and listen to my thoughts
At ten twenty three in the morning.
Heaven received a soul
At ten twenty three in the morning.
My dear auntie
At ten twenty three in the morning
We shall be together again
At ten twenty three in the morning.
When heaven has then received my soul
At ten twenty three in the morning.

Definition Poem: Flibbertigibbit
Flibbertigibbet: [flibrdējibt], noun, plural flibbertigibbets,
a frivolous, flighty, or excessively talkative person.
The moment you wake up and want to open your blabbermouth;
Your chatterbox runs all day
With all the gossip and chatter spreading its way;
You must be quite the meddler
Since you’re a tattler;
And do nothing but gossip all day
Your mouth seems to never shut;
Until someone tells you to shut up!
All I have to say is
Quiet you flibbertigibbet!
Limerick Poem: Fall
Seems reality has set in and summer's finally over
The leaves are a-splendor with stunning composure
Fall has fallen
The time is solemn
But spring is getting ready to pop up the clover
Ode Poem: Rain
Oh Rain, how lovely your presence is.
You hide the blazing sun
and bring the shade I crave.
My body is a desert of dying plains.
Sipping every splash of you is
a refreshment of joy.
From the Heavens, you Tickle my skin.
I See you shimmering on my eyelashes
like gleaming crystals.
I smell the air, and inhale the
freshness you bring.
You form pooling puddles like sheets of glass in which I splash upon.
When you pass, I wait patiently
for the melodic drip drop symphony
you bless.
Found Poem: Suicide
I move the bloody syringe from my arm
The coldness slowly spreads into my body
The pill bottles sitting on my bed
I am clutching the glass beside me
I can hear the doves that live in wisteria waking up
My breath is slowly escaping my lungs
Silence haunts my wasted body
I look at the light
As my body is released from this refuge world
I am now free

Choral Poem: The Dog & Cat
The dog and the cat
Side by side
Twas’ half past 12
The dog and the cat
Had not
With them both awake
It was double the trouble
And with all that
The dog and the cat
On the table sat
And what do you think
The dog and the cat
(pause) slept a wink
It was double the trouble
Rumble
That vase
Followed by the
There was an awful lot of chatter
So the two
By the next
There was no traces of
The dog and the cat
And to this
Went and crumbled
(pause) loud shatter
There was an awful lot of chatter
Had to scatter
(pause) morning
The dog and the cat
(pause) day
They say the burglars
But the truth
Is that
They ate each other up
Took the pair away
About the cat and the pup
They ate each other up
