Learner Profile Attribute: Caring
My Definition of LP Attribute: showing empathy towards not only the people you care about, but also to people you know nothing of.
Book or Story Title Representing Attribute: I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest

Book Summary: May and Libby were best friends, and throughout their relationship they made a story and character called Princess X, a fighter princess who managed and saved her kingdom from evil doers. May made the stories, and Libby drew the pictures. When Libby died in a car accident, May had to deal with the loss of not only her best friend, but their Princess X story as well. But one day 6 years later, May sees a sticker of Princess X on a window, and after finding various items and websites based around her and Libby's childhood original character, May starts to believe that Libby isn't quite as dead as she had originally presumed. With the help of her cyber friend Patrick, May searches Seattle for Libby, discovering many untold truths along the way.
May in Princess X represents Caring, because she went underground(metaphorically and literally) to find her best friend, trusting and learning to care for complete strangers along the way. May put herself in danger, but didn't regret anything when she was reunited with Libby.
I connect to May because I too would put myself at risk for my best friends, because I deeply love and care for them.
Learner Profile Attribute: Balanced
My Definition of LP Attribute: Keeping a fine line between what you want and what you need. Balanced to me is also keeping a fine line between personal and professional.
Book Representing Attribute: Eliza and her monsters by Francesca Zappia
Book Summary: LadyConstellation is the anonymous creator of the online webcomic Monstrous Sea, a fictional story with millions of fans and followers worldwide. But LadyConstellation has a real life name too. Eliza Mirk is the shy shut-in student at her high school, and no one knows of her online persona. Her real life is a boring and normal one, until Wallace Wade shows up as a new student. Wallace is an enormous fan of Monstrous Sea, and quickly

tells Eliza about his fanfictions he writes about it after they become acquaintances. Of course, he has no idea that Eliza is the person he writes his fanfictions for. As their relationship matures, and they begin to become a little more than friends, Wallace begins to suspect Eliza's so called "fanart" of Monstrous Sea. And Eliza becomes more worried about her identity being exposed.
Eliza represents Balance, because she has to keep her real and online lives in check, while making sure that her online life is not only balanced, but successful. And when Wallace shows up, she needs to balance much more than what she used to. And when Wallace finds out her online persona, it becomes real life, online life, artist block, and heartbreak being thrown onto the scale. Of course, at first it's a struggle for Eliza, but eventually she gets the hang of it. And when Wallace and her make up, it becomes a little less pressuring.
I connect to Eliza because I as an artist sometimes struggle to keep my artistic and scholarly studies balanced. I sometimes have to abandon ideas due to the strains of school work. But I always try to stay on the bright side and continue my artistry, and my studies.
Learner Profile Attribute: Perseverance
My Definition of LP Attribute: Not giving even when faced with impossible amounts of doubt or hardships.
Book or Story Title Representing Attribute: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Books Summary: With each new character being spin-offs of famous fairy tales like Cinderella, Little red riding hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White, The Lunar Chronicles is a science fiction series of novels following Linh Cinder, a 17 year old cyborg mechanic living in New Beijing with her stepsisters and stepmother and her best friend Iko the android. Cinder in these stories discovers more about the people of Luna, mind controlling unsympathetic humanoids living in the luxurious Artemisia on the Earth's Moon, and what they have to do with her. During her adventures of self discovery and assertion, she makes various acquaintances, such as Prince Kai, Scarlet, Wolf, Cress, Thorne, Princess Winter and her royal guard Jacin. Cinder also makes many

enemies like Queen Levana, the sinister ruler of Luna who's trying to invade Earth with her monsters. But that's not her only plan. The hierarchy of Luna has also sent a disease named Letumosis, a disease immune to Lunars, but deadly to humans, to Earth. Cinder's stepsister Peony, was subjected to this disease, which was the thing that prompted Cinder to investigate it's heritage... and her own, as Princess Selena of Luna. As Cinder discovers more about herself, and her heritage, she has to do the seemingly impossible to regain what is rightfully hers.
This plot represents Perseverance, because Cinder has to go through losing her sister, finding out she's the lost lunar princess, to having to infiltrate the royal ball, to even losing her entire family and being chased by multiple governments and monsters. But through all of this she has one goal. To retake Luna under her rule, and restore it to its former, er... peaceful glory. And she does, because of her perseverance.
I connect to this plot, because sometimes it feels like I'm fighting a war while simultaneously trying to control my mind controlling powers. In a metaphorical way of course. But like Cinder I try to push past those struggles, and continue what I started to meet my goals.
Learner Profile Attribute: Risk Takers
My Definition of LP Attribute: Being able to see that performing anY action can result in either failure or success, and doing those actions to the best of your abilities regardless of the possibility of failure.
Book Representing Attribute: Renegades by Marissa Meyer
Book Summary: In a world of superpowers and violence the Renegades are a governmental group of superheroes leading the once chaos filled cities to a prosperous metropolis. They are comprised of popular superheroes with varying powers, as well as governmental advisers. The Renegades are led by Hugh Everhart and his team. But as there are always the "villains" of these stories, there

are the Anarchists, who strive to keep the world in its current state of, well, anarchy. Nova is an Anarchist with the power to touch someone and make them fall asleep. During the time of complete anarchy, her family was murdered by a gang that was using her father's powers of creation for drugs, and arms. When her father was killed the Superheroes were supposed to come to the rescue. When her mother and sister Eva were murdered at gunpoint, they were supposed to come. But
instead of red capes and smoke, Nova's Uncle Ace was the one who came through the door. Ace, or Alec Artino, was the leader of the Anarchists, and at his death, Nova promised to fulfill his dream of complete anarchy.
At the present day, each year the Renegades hold a contest to find new superhumans to join their ranks. Adrian Everhart is the leader of one of the teams of Renegades looking for new members. With his powers of sketching things into life, he is the leader of Ruby, a warrior with a neverhealing injury, that bleeds sharp crystals that bend to her will. Oscar, as "Smokescreen" produces heavy amounts of smoke from his body to conceal his team and take down enemies. And of course Danna, with the ability to transform her body into thousands of monarch butterflies, while still being conscious in every one of them. Nova's plan is to infiltrate this contest as "Insomnia" posing that her power is to never fall asleep. Nova is to join a team, and destroy the Renegades from the inside.
This plot represents Risk Takers, because Nova is putting herself and the anarchists in danger to achieve their goal of total anarchy. At any time Nova could be found out and killed, but at any time the people could revolt against the Renegades, and the Anarchists could reign again.
I do and also don't connect to this plot because Nova is taking risks for the greater good, which is what I would do, but I don't regularly take such risks that could end my life, or unbalance the governmental or economic structure.
