Hey, Mr. Kennedy. Thanks for making me turn this college essay into a children's book, no matter how child unfriendly this topic would be on any normal occasion. Here's to hopefully an A, or even a B at the very least.
But in all seriousness, here's to the people who've kept me alive for this long.

Johnny Jar was happy in his cabinet. It was cozy, warm, and he had friends with him. He'd always laugh with his friends, and there was hardly a boring moment. Johnny was as youthful and happy as the others.
Johnny wasn't like any of the other jars, filled with food or secret recipes or special memories; he was filled with light. His light shone brightly through his glass, almost like a warm smile.

Johnny was very happy with life indeed. He felt no reason not to be. Warm summer days had wind blowing through the windows. Sometimes, the kids of the house would come get Johnny late at night and use him to light up their fort. Their giggles made Johnny feel like he was glowing more and more. That light was why Johnny was special, and he felt it. It seemed like his sole purpose in life was making kids happy. Sometimes, even the dad of the family would pick him up and just hold him tight. Johnny never grew brighter.

November came around, which meant turkey was soon to come along with the family being home! Johnny was usually excited because he loved the family being together -as broken as it was-, but this year was different. Johnny wanted to isolate himself in his cabinet, not talk to anyone.
"I want to be happy," Johnny thought to himself. "But my light isn't as bright. No one has picked me up. I feel left out by my friends." He felt unloved. Alone. Unwanted. Scared.
Johnny heard footsteps.
The dad was coming to him. He was talking to his girlfriend, a lady Johnny didn't like a lot. He frowned but felt at least a teeny bit happier at the sight of the dad. The dad fully opened the cabinet, saw Johnny -"Oh boy, he's gonna pick me up!", he thought-...
And turned around to his girlfriend. He picked her up like they were teenagers in love and spun her around. Her arms were outreached as she screamed and laughed. They were scarily close to Johnny, and he was starting to get scared. Everything that was inside of him -other than his lights- were starting to overflow; all of his thoughts and worries and fears.
And it happened. She hit Johnny. The fall was slow and scary.
