"Mom, when is grandpa going to come?" asked Ebony, as she hadn't seen him in 6 years. Her younger sister, Mandissa, who is 4 years old and 9 years younger than Ebony was also very excited as she too had never seen her grandfather. She was dressed as a ballerina as she had just returned from ballet class. "Ebony, I am sure that this is the 6th time you have asked me in less than an hour, he will be coming any minute." As she finished her sentence, the door bell rang. Ebony was asked to answer the door. It was her grandfather, he was short and just just taller than Mandissa. Ebony hugged him with great excitement and joy, followed by Mandissa and her parents.

Ebony invited her grandfather to come inside the living room and asked him to make himself comfortable, she then served him with some snacks and lemon juice. After some time, Ebony left to her room to finish her assignment.

Her assignment was to "write an essay about soldiers in ancient Egypt". she had a very minimal amount of information with her so she went to research about it on Google. The internet wasn't helpful that day because they had a power cut; her laptop had shut down completely. Also her assignment was due the very next day (since she had left it to the last minute), so she decided to ask her parents to help her. Her parents were working in the kitchen, so she had to pass through the living room where Grandpa was sitting; to reach them on her way past, Grandpa called her over.

"Ebony, I thought that you were doing your assignment, "so what brings you here?" Asked her grandfather. "Grandfather, I was just making my way to the kitchen where my parents are. I had a doubt about my assignment", Ebony replied. "Bring it here. I will see if I can help you", said grandpa. "Sure!" said Ebony happily and returned to her room to get her assignment.

When her grandfather had a look at the assignment sheet, he said he was very happy to help her. Now Ebony was puzzled. She didn't understand what made him so happy to help her research and "write an essay about soldiers in ancient Egypt". When grandfather saw her puzzled face, he told her that their family was originally from Egypt but had to move to Indonasia due to some problems. "So today we have very little of our culture left with us", explained her grandfather. She was interested to learn more about Egypt and her ancestors and sat next to him.

After some time when he explained why they moved to Indonesia, he suddenly snapped him fingers and asked Mandissa, who was right next to him, to get a blue bag from his room. when she came back with the bag, he made her open it and remove the things inside it. Mandissa pulled out a weird looking machine. "Ahhh, yes there it is, my time machine!" Mandissa and Ebony looked perplexed and stared at Granda with utter disbelief. "We shall go to ancient Egypt to help you with your assignment Ebony."

Grandfather promised that they would reach ancient Egypt by midnight; he also mentioned that none of the actual days would be missed. "Now don't touch anything until I come. I am going to ask your parents for the permission if you can come to ancient Egypt with me. So don't get excited, you two might not be able to come..." said grandfather. When he came back, he said that both of them can come. Now all three were overjoyed; they went to Ebony's room to pack all their stuff. With in an hour they were ready to go and even the time machine was ready. They wished good bye to Mandissa and Ebony's parents and left to ancient Egypt.

With a bang, pop, and screech they arrived in ancient Egypt. They arrived in a modern looking house that was a space in between the two worlds and where they would be staying. In the evening, grandfather took them to their rooms. He said that they had to eat their dinner fast and go to bed early as they would be arriving there at midnight. All three of them had separate rooms and each of them was beautiful in its own way.

At 12 'o' clock midnight in Indonesia's time, grandfather came and woke up Mandissa and Ebony. All three were very scared but also very eager to look at ancient Egypt and also work on Ebony's assignment. When they got out, they saw only a few things such as a camel and the pyramids. As they were walking by, they saw many people like government officials, nobles, priests, scribes and as she moved closer to the city, they saw merchants, craftsmen, farmers and slaves. When they were approaching the palace, they saw the Pharoah and the soldiers... "wait" said Ebony these are the soldiers of ancient Egypt. "Quick grandpa, get your invisibility potion, let us take it and hide among the soldiers in the mud forts so we can learn more about them."
