This book is dedicated to 3rd graders everywhere who may need a little help understanding how quadrilaterals relate to one another.
(No polygons were harmed during the creation of this book.)

Welcome to the Quadlands, young visitor. Here, you will travel through the Polygon Fields to reach Trapezoid Town. Enjoy your stay before you leave for a trip to wander the Parallelogram Forest. Once you're done there, spend some time checking out Rhombusville and the Rectangle Gardens. Before you head back home, be sure to visit the greatest landmark in all the land: old Queen Square's castle. Queen Square was the most wonderful queen we ever had. She won't be there when you arrive, though.
Let me tell you what happened...
One day, Queen Square decided it was time for her to step down and allow someone else to take care of the Quadlands. She was getting older and just didn't have the energy any more. Because she loved her people so much, she felt it would be a good idea to let one of them take the throne.
...but, how should she choose the right person for the Quadlands?
She decided that she wanted people from all across the land to tell her why they should be the next Queen or King. So, she started looking for someone who was as perfect for the Quadlands as she was.
The first visitor arrived all the way from the Polygon Fields. Stumbling through the doors, he bows to the Queen and says...
"Greetings, your highness! I think I should be the new King because I am just like you! I have 4 sides!"
The Queen nods her head and responds, "Yes, sir, you do have 4 sides, but I'm afraid that's not enough to be King of the Quadlands. I am looking for a little more than that."
Saddened, the poor polygon wandered back outside.
After the poor polygon walked away, another person approached the throne.
"My dear Queen. I have come all the way from Trapezoid Town to speak with you. I would like to tell you that though the heartbroken polygon fellow and I share the same number of sides, I need to let you know that I also have one pair of parallel sides. I feel this is very important for being King."
Giving a brief smile, the Queen says, "Yes, sir, you do have 4 sides and you have a pair of parallel sides, but it's simply just not enough. I am sorry."
The confused Trapezoid walks away in defeat.
