Academic identity
I am a bilingual student. My professor describes me as a hard learner and a good questioner. I describe myself as a slow learner and struggle learner. I viewed myself as this type of learner is because of my English. All my classes are taught in English and I am not proficiency in English. So sometime, I could not understand the reading materials or class context, which really impact my understandings. If I could not have
the good understandings, I could not do my assignments in high qualities. The limitations of my understandings will lead me become to a slow learner. I need more time to finish my assignments and need more time than the native speakers to get the knowledge. This experience helps me understand the feeling of ELLs. I really understand the feelings that when you try hard to learn something but the language barriers limit you.

Intellectual identities
I do not consider myself as an “Intellectual” person. Usually, an intellectual person should be good at math and has some inborn gifts on study that the other does not have. I am not good at math and I learn everything in a normal pace. I do not consider myself to be intellectually capable in school because I viewed myself as a struggled learner. When I came to America, all of my courses were emphasized on critical thinking and think on different perspectives. Thus, I need to consider in those ways in order to do my essayand my reflections. I have to say, the courses in UNCG helped me formed a thinking way.
However, the way how I solve problems and analyze situations are formed by my early experiences.
My mom was cultivating me to solve problem by myself on purpose when I was little. I gradually began to solve problems independently. I usually observed and analyzed the situations from different angles and find an effective way to solve problem. I keep this solving and analyzing process until now. I think, with this problem-solving process, I would plan my lesson more effectively. For example, if I notice an ELL needs help, I could think about where her need help and what is the most effective way. Then, I would be able to come be able to come up a plan quickly.
