who are the mongols?
the overwhelming question of any child presented with this book
- Best known as fierce horsemen and warriors
- Led by the infamous Genghis Khan
- Come from Central Asia
- Are now a nomadic people, full of culture and history.
- One of history's most successful empires, especially in conquering

2
Military Power
how mongols gained it and what you, a child, need to know
- The Mongols were the dominant military force in the 13th century, which is pretty huge - much like MouseRat's single "5,000 Candles in the Wind" is easily the best song of this era
- Soldiers were trained with rigor
- Fighting was their forte
- After conquering cities, they went on rampages
- Asserted their dominance through violence, fire, etc.

3
GENGHIS KHAN
MESS WITH HIM AND FACE THE KHANSEQUENCES
- By uniting the tribes of Northeast Asia, Genghis Khan created one of the most powerful empires
- Born in Mongolia as "Temujin"
- Grew up and built a large army
- Brought unity and force to the masses
- After his tragically simple and not-epic death, the Mongols thrived

4
BATU KHAN
That one guy. Not Genghis Khan, the other one

- Grandson of Genghis Khan
- Mongol leader
- Founded "the Golden Horde", an army that overran Eastern Asia
- Revolutionized the emptire
- Carried on his grandfather's name after Genghis' death
5
KUBLAI KHAN
the other, other guy. like, the least relevant guy.
- Fifth Khan in the Mongol Empire
- Grandson of Genghis, cousin of Batu
- Founded the Yuan dynasty
- First emperor to rule over this dynasty
- Ruled from 1260 to 1294
