Mr. Roth

Welcome to my journey through the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression; 1920 to 1939. Come along with me to see the rises and downfalls between the 2 decades, and what I had to go through. Oh! by the way, call me Bobby, Bobby White.
First, lets go ahead and start in 1920, the Roaring Twenties, also known as the Jazz Age. This was a time of having fun, dancing, and music. People filled the streets and celebrated on the daily.
On an average day I didn't really do much, considering I was 8 years old. I didn't work. I waited for my parents to get home to then eat dinner. My parents told me today that they were putting money into stocks. From what I could understand it means that they put money in to eventually gain more money in the future from that.
Today, it took a while for my parents to get home, I'm pretty sure its because of these things called Speakeasies, but shh Im not supposed to tell anyone about those. My parents always tell me loads of stories about what goes on! Speakeasies are where you go to have fun, but only if you were over 21. Alcohol was illegal but leave it to people where I live to get around that!
After that my parents would come home and we would all spend time together and eat a good meal.
Today my dad came home with a washing machine! I had never seen one of these before! Mom says that we can wash clothes whenever we needed to! Mom also got me a little teddy bear as a gift. I loved him.
A couple weeks later my parents started working more and seeing me less. We didn't eat dinner everyday like normal, and mom was always sad. She said that the stock market crashed and that the banks all went out of business, all of the money was gone.
My father began selling most of the valuables in my house, but it wasn't helping. I over heard my parents talking about selling the house, and mom my crying about the government and president Hoover not helping. I hate seeing them sad.
