"Some people are your relatives but others are your ancestors, and you choose the ones you want to have as ancestors. You create yourself out of those values." Ralph Ellison

Have you ever wondered about your roots? Where your family originally came from? Thanks to special websites and genealogists, we're better able to find out who we are and where we originated. Young Georgie didn't know much about his family history. When the kids in his class did their projects on their family trees, Georgie felt kinda left out because he didn't know that much about his heritage. But that was all about to change thanks to a website called Ancestors.com. "Oh, this looks like fun" Georgie's Mom happily said. "Let's give it a try."

When the kit arrived, Georgie's Mom couldn't wait to open it up. She was so excited to learn more about her family lineage. Everyone submitted saliva samples and filled out all of the necessary paperwork. Even Georgie felt himself getting swept up in all of the enthusiasm. He really didn't know much about his family and felt a little guilty that he hadn't been more curious. His entire family was excited to learn more about their ancestors. Who were they? Where did they come from? Were they famous? Well, all except for Georgie's jerky older brother Joe. He was 13 and the only thing that interested him was teasing his younger brother.

Within a few weeks the results were in. Georgie's Mom raced to the mailbox and quickly ripped open the package. "Gather 'round everyone!" she shouted. "The results were just delivered." Georgie's Mom was mostly Scottish and Irish while his Dad was British and Polish. The information sheet also said that there was also 5% unknown origin or other. Georgie's great-grandparents were from Wolverhampton, England. "Hey Georgie. You know where werewolves come from don't you?" "No." "Wolverhampton" Joe snickered. "What did he mean by that?" Georgie wondered.

"That's ridiculous. Werewolves aren't real. Besides how come I've never heard about any in our family?" Georgie questioned. "It skips a few generations. So far I haven't turned into one but if I were you I'd watch out for full moons. You have to be part-werewolf. You have dark curly hair while nobody else in the family does. Looks like I'll have to get you a flea collar for Christmas wolf-boy." Georgie stood there as he tried to make sense of the crazy story his brother had told him. "The existence of werewolves is a myth. Nothing more than folklore." Despite his lingering doubts, a part of Georgie couldn't help but think that maybe his brother was right.

That night Georgie had the worst time trying to get to sleep. He kept thinking about what his brother had said to him. It was a nice night outside so Georgie decided to open his bedroom window to let the fresh air in. But he was unable to enjoy the cool autumn breeze as he was disturbed by the sounds of growls and howls that seemed to be close by. He bolted out of bed and was quickly relieved to find the origin of the howling. The O'Rourkes' dog Beto was barking to be let back in after doing his business outside. Georgie finally drifted off but his sleep was not a restful one.

The next day Georgie woke up feeling groggy and listless. He was barely able to keep his eyes open during breakfast. "Don't forget to brush your teeth before you go to school Georgie." "Yes Mom" he replied as he made his way upstairs. The bathroom mirror was still foggy from his Dad's shower earlier that morning so Georgie wiped the condensation off the mirror and started to brush. As he looked into the mirror it appeared as though a werewolf was staring back at him. Georgie splashed some water on his face and when he looked up the werewolf was gone. Unnerved by the experience, Georgie slowly got ready for school.
