“Run away! Run away!” screamed the villagers.
“It’s a beast! A terrifying beast!”
Peter looked out the window to see what all the ruckus was about and immediately saw the “beast” as it was called.
It was huge. About as big as a tree. It looked like a normal human if you didn’t take into account its size, or the fact that it only had one eye that was placed right in the middle of its forehead.

Peter’s mom was running around, trying to fit everything she owned in a small bag. “Come on Peter, we need to go! Pack your things! Before that- that- thing destroys our home!”
Peter had no choice but to do just that. He went to his bed and grabbed a bag from underneath. He then threw as many clothes as he could inside and met his mother by the door. Peter could hear the giant’s footsteps getting closer and closer, but for some reason, he didn’t feel as panicked as the people around him.

Peter’s mother grabbed his hand and pulled him out of their hut.
Together, they ran away and found a small cave in the woods.
“This will be a good place to stay for a little bit just until that thing leaves the town? Why don’t you go out and get us some wood for a small fire.”
Peter nodded his head and left to find some sticks and twigs.

As Peter was walking through the woods, he heard a sniffling. Peter followed the sound and found the monster sitting on a rock crying. Peter was confused as to why this giant was sad when it was the one frightening the town that Peter had lived in his whole life.
Peter felt sorry for the creature. He didn’t know why, but he started to move towards the crying figure.

“Hey” he said, “are you okay?”
The creature looked up and said “I’m sad”
“Why are you sad?”
“No one will be my friend”

“Well, you are destroying people’s homes. People don’t like it when their things are broken.” Peter tried to reason with the sad cyclops. “You need to try to do nice things for them and maybe they’ll like you.”
