I would like to dedicate this short story to my amazing teacher, Mrs Dobbs.

Introduction
So there I am, all by myself, walking slowly up to a middle school. My name´s Jake, and I live in Crabtree Virginia, and I am now a middle schooler. It is the first day of school and this middle school is about five times larger than my elementary school. Will I know anybody? Do I still have friends?
Okay , first let me introduce myself. As I already said, I am Jake and I am 12 years old. I do 25 push ups and sit ups everyday, so I am very athletic. However, I barely was able to pass elementary school, so I am not the smartest. I was fine during elementary school, but middle school is a lot different.
Chapter 1
The first week of school has passed now and it is Saturday. School is HARD! Every time I sat down, I had the urge to do something else and my eyes wandered the room. It's like my eyes had a mind of its own. No, I thought to myself, I have to get this stupid math homework finished and done with! I had to stay after school every afternoon and I never had any time to do any sports. I had to stay with my reading and writing teacher and she is the nicest, most thoughtful person in the world
. She helped me get all my work done and I think I am going to need her. A lot! I have a basketball and baseball game today and I really do not feel ready for either of them. My baseball game is first and starts in 1 hour, so I am going to get ready for that first. I feel like I just learned how to play! So here I am, in my garage with a full uniform on and a bat swinging at nothing except air. ¨Oh boy do I look stupid right now¨ I said.
¨It's game time¨ I said. We´re in my families car and I am jumping out of my socks right now. I also have butterflies in my stomach and have to go pee. I am fidgeting like a joystick. Thankfully, I am in the backseat so my parents can not see me. It is my first game on my new team (The BlueJays) and our first game of the season. I get out of the car and walk towards my coach and the field. I say hi to coach as I walk by and set my stuff done on our bench. I grab my glove and head out to the mound.
I am our team's starting pitcher and our first batter on our batting list. It a very warm summer day with a lovely mild breeze. Today is the perfect day to start off the season with a win. That is, if we can.
¨Strike one¨ the ump said as I threw my first pitch just inside the top left corner of the strike zone. ¨Man it feels good to be back home¨ I said. The top of the first ended in a surprising fly ball caught about fifteen feet before it became a home run. The top of the first ended in the best possible way for my team. I threw 16 pitches and got one strikeout. Now it is our turn on offense and my time to shine. ¨Crack”goes the ball as I hit a single right in between the first and second base and got to first. On the next throw I went to teal first and got there with seconds to spare. Then, Robert got a nice double over shortstop and I was able to go home and get us a 1-0 lead.
Now it is the bottom of the fifth and the score has not changed. It is 1-0 us and it is all thanks to me. There are three more batters up until I go again and the game is slowly getting more since we only have a 1-0 lead. Chris hit a nice triple down the first base line and got us into scoring range. The next two batters both struck out now and I could either blow it all and get nothing or get us a 2-0 lead by getting Chris home. The first pitch the Red Sox's pitcher threw was way high and way outside. Ball one. The next throw was right down the middle but I got too low on the ball
and hit it up.One ball and one strike. The next one barely was in the strike zone and seemed like it was a curve ball. One ball and two strikes. The next two both became balls because he was trying to get me swinging, but I waited. This is it. For everything. The money ball. The ball that could change everything. He threw a fastball like the sound of light or like a speeding tiger. I was ready. I set my bat. I got it right. Put it down the middle, in the perfect spot of the bat. Everybody already knew it was gone, I just set my bat down and started walking around the bases. It was behind the trees and past the parking lot. I just strolled around the bases as I knew that this game was in the bag.
The basketball game was a blowout and it ended with Jack hitting a three point buzzer beater from the corner of the court. We won the game 48 to 29. It is a great start to win both the basketball and baseball games. Especially since it is the first games of both seasons.
On Wednesday of last week, I realized that I am not going to be able to do both school and sports at the same time and be good at both. I have to focus on school during the week and have to spend all my time during the weekend struggling to get back to being good enough to win both of our games.
Chapter 2
It is Saturday and I am so thankful for it being the weekend. It is 3:36 and I am sitting on my couch, watching TV. The classes I am struggling the most with are math and science. My mom keeps getting mad at me because I am focusing too much on sports during the weekend that I am not ready for my math and science tests. However though, my dad knows that I have to focus on sports to win the games. I got up from the couch and went to the restroom. I don't have a game today so I went to hang out with my friends.
I turn on the TV and pulled out my phone. I go to text my friend Robbie to see if he wants to hang out. He says he has homework so I set my phone down and started to watch sports. I lay back on my couch just waiting for something to happen in the football game. I do not like football which is exactly why I do not play it. Football is boring, I think to myself. After the end of the football game, I want to ride my bike around the block. I have the newest bike and the best one that there is. I get on my bike and start pedalling to get going. I suddenly stop and remember
