CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and is a technique used to restart someones heartbeat. It is a good idea to learn how to perform it properly on other people.

Doctors take care of you and your family when you have not been feeling good. They help protect you from sickness and they always try their best to keep you healthy!




is for... Exercise




Exercise is important at any age and should be done in any way possible. Different forms of exercise can include dancing, karate, jogging, and biking.
is for... Flu


The flu is what makes you feel hot and then cold. what makes you cough, and what makes your nose run. Proper hygiene habits like washing your hands can help in reducing the spread of the flu.





is for... Genetics

Genetics are things you got, or inherited, from your mom and dad. Genetics are the reason you have your eye and hair color.


is for... Healthcare Administration


Fun Fact: Helath care administration workers lead and manage different systems such as hospitals, ambulances, laboratories, and more!

Immunizations are another word for vaccines. Vaccines are shots that you get that help you prevent catching very dangerous sicknesses. There are many types of vaccines, and most schools require children to have them before they can come to classes.
is for... Joints


Joints are located all over your body and allow you to move in many different ways. There are joints in your knees, elbows, fingers, and many other places!
Fun Fact: Some joints in the skull do not move. There is a layer of something called cartilage that covers the surface of a bone, and keeps bones from rubbing against each other.
is for... Kidneys


Your kidneys help keep to keep your body working in tip top shape. They filter blood before it returns to the heart, get rid of waste as urine, and many other important things.
Fun Fact: Each kidney is no bigger than a standard cell phone or computer mouse, and the blood flow in kidneys is higher than in the brain and heart!
is for... Learning

Learning is something we do our entire life, but it is important to learn good, correct information. Learning how to properly take care of yourself and your body is needed to make sure you are living the best life possible.

Mental health refers to a state of well being inside of your brain having to do with proper behavioral and emotional status. Taking care of yourself and talking about your feelings is an important way to keep the quality of your mental health positive.

Nutrition refers to putting food inside of your body that is good for you, and that will benefit your health. Good eating is a valuable skill to have at any age in life.






is for... Obama and his Affordable Care Act (ACA)



ACA
The Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, offers consumer protections for all, and drove the number of uninsured Americans way down.
Fun Fact: Under the ACA, you can stay under your parent's insurance until you turn 26, if you choose.

Pregnancy is when your mom's tummy gets all big and round. She is getting ready to bring a new baby into the world!




is for... Questions

Questions are important to ask in your everyday life. Ask questions if you are curious, want to learn more, or for any other reason you want. Asking your doctor questions can be very helpful in learning.




is for... Responsibility

Responsibility means owning up to our own actions. We are all responsible for taking care of ourselves, and taking care of our health.
Fun Fact: There are many examples of companies pushing for health responsibility by refusing to hire smokers, including physical activity on the job, and decreasing health insurance cost for healthy people.
