Some of the geography features of Ancient Egypt include: The Nile River, vast deserts, great amounts of fertile soil near the edge of the Nile River, and lastly the Mediterranean Sea. Climate change affects Ancient Egypt as the summers are very hot and dry, but when summer rain falls it can become very humid. Buildings and structures were very different in this time period. The buildings were created from the Nile River’s water and mud; compacted together to create a solid stone. The roofs of the houses were not made from shingles; instead they were made of straw. It appears that pyramids and stone structures were very common in Ancient Egypt.

The Old Kingdom had pyramids “growing from trees,” which made each and every pyramid powerful, grand, and immense. The people of this time period believed that after you had passed, you would go into the afterlife. After reaching the afterlife you would worship the gods and goddesses. The Stone of Immortality means that whoever touches the precious stone, gets to live forever.

Seth Blow woke up one Saturday morning and immediately jumped out of bed, facing the warm sun shining on his face. Seth looked out of his small window, and saw the Pyramid of Khafre. He had practiced climbing Khafre everyday, until he can finally reach the top of Pyramid Giza.. He remembered the first time when he saw the Khafre Pyramid, when he was only ten years old, and he already knew that he wanted to climb it. Seth practiced long hours of climbing with his grandfather and brother everyday, improving his climbing skills each time he went up. Jackson Blow is Seth’s brother that climbed the Pyramid of Giza when he was Seth’s age, but unfortunately he didn't make it to the top. Seth wants to take after his brother and try to do the thing he could not finish. He was ready to start the fearless journey he had been practicing for all Summer long.

Each day Seth practiced climbing the Pyramid of Khafre. The pyramids he had climbed were smaller than the Pyramid of Giza. He loved climbing the pyramids more than anything. Seth’s goal was to reach the Pyramid of Giza and achieve the Stone of Immortality, which is a stone that lets you live forever. The only reason Seth wants to get the stone is because he wants to give immortality to his dearly sick grandmother. Seth’s grandmother has always encouraged Seth to accomplish anything he puts his mind to.

Seth had always been very independent. He has always wanted to do tasks himself. Leaving his messy room in a hurry, Seth quickly grabs all of his pyramid equipment. He is in a big hurry! Seth leaves his family in Sallum, but before he leaves his family. They give Seth lots of love and support. They will all miss Seth greatly, but they are incredibly proud of him.
After traveling for an hour, Seth realizes he is being followed by his ex-best-friend, Henry! Henry and Seth used to be best friends in middle school, but one day Henry became jealous and angry every time Seth beat Henry in a race or challenge. Seth knows that Henry can not stand in his way of reaching the Stone of Immortality.

“Henry?,” said Seth, a little worry in his voice.
“Hi, Seth,” Henry said, a little mockingly.
“Henry, you don’t need to be rude, and where are you off to anyways?” asked Seth.
“I’m journeying to the Pyramid of Giza. So, I can finally beat you. Have fun losing,” Henry said, walking away into the dry desert, not saying another word.
Seth sighs, remembering the great times Henry and he had when they were younger. But, Seth can’t let Henry’s negative energy get in the way of his journey. Seth clears his mind, and focuses on his journey.

Henry?
Seth?
The Nile River is one of the features Seth has to travel across to be ahead of Henry. Before Seth starts his swim, Seth realizes he is standing on the Nile’s fertile soil. Seth has always thought as fertile soil is a sign of good luck. When Seth was only eight years old, Seth’s grandfather brought home a perfect jar of soil. Seth admired the soil so much. And now, to this very day, it has brought Seth good luck and hope. Seth quickly jumps into the Nile, trying to understand his surroundings as best as possible. All that consumes Seth’s mind is swimming across the Nile. The Nile is very cold, but the coldness of the water feels nice on his hot sweaty face. It takes Seth a total of two hours to swim across the Nile River. After the hazardous swim, Seth is completely wiped out from the very hard swim. All Seth wants to do is sleep soundly.
Seth finally made it across the Nile River, which took the strength from him. Seth is so out of breath he needs a place to rest, before he goes back into his adventure. However, getting what he wants can’t stop Seth from giving up, so Seth keeps walking. While his feet start dragging, Seth finally sees a bit a light. Seth completely gives out and he drops to the ground. Still, he doesn't give up and crawls toward the lights. He crawls, and crawls, and a couple of minutes Seth makes his way to the lights. Seth sees a nice flat rock he can lay on, so he can get some sleep, but he is also very hungry.

Seth told himself that he needed to get on his feet and ask people if they could lend him some food and water, but instead he fell right back to the ground. In the bright Dendera light, Seth sees a random man walking up to him. Before Seth could say anything to the mystery man, the man picked Seth up and brought him inside to rest. The man helps Seth get inside to lie down. The mystery man makes Seth feel just like he’s in his own house to make sure he does not freak out when he awakes.

Many hours later, Seth’s heart and brain decides that he needs to get up and start his quest again. The man is scared that when Seth wakes, he will freak out and scream. If Seth screams the whole village will hear him. His eyes start to awaken and he see's he's not outside anymore, but instead he's inside on a comfortable bed but Seth is still frightened. The man slowly walked over to Seth to see if he was OK and where he was traveling to at the late hour. Seth gets up from the bed he had been on, and speaks out loud wondering...

“Why did you help me?” asked Seth.
The man said, “My name is Peter Ragland and welcome to the Yamu Village. What’s your name?” Seth was very surprised by Peter’s attitude and kindness. So, Seth answered back saying his name, trying not to sound scared.
“Do you want some breakfast or some water?,” asked Peter.
Seth felt so honored that Peter would share his food and water with a complete stranger.
“Sir, I would love some food and water; unless you need this food for yourself,” said Seth.

"My name is Seth Blow, sir."
"Hello Seth, my name is Peter Ragland!"
Since Peter is so nice Peter said, "Take as much food and water as you need." Peter loves telling jokes. So, Peter decides to tell a couple of them to Seth, hoping he will like them.
“Hey Seth, what tops off a mummy’s ice cream sundae?” asks Peter.
“What?” asks Seth
Peter said “Whipped scream!” and Seth bursts out in laughter.
“I haven’t heard a joke like that in so long, thank you Peter," replies Seth.
“Hey Peter, my brother used to tell me this joke when I was younger and i loved it so I hope that you will like it too. Why was the Egyptian kid confused?..... His daddy is a mummy,” laughs Seth, cheerfully.
.

Good one!
“That’s a good one too Seth, and now let's talk about where you were going very late at night,” Peter replies.
“Well you see my brother, Jackson, he climbs pyramids and does all these awesome climbs, and I decided I wanted to try to do all the cool stuff he participates in. I’m going to climb the pyramid of Giza to get the Stone of Immortality, for my dearly sick grandmother,” said Seth.
“Oh I understand,” said Peter, “You want to do something great for the person you love, I admire you Seth.”
“Thank you for helping me out, Peter, but sadly I have to get back to what I was doing,” said Seth.
“No worries, Seth, let me just give some food and water for along the way, so you can complete your journey.”
“That would be great, Peter,” said Seth. And then Seth is off on his quest and follows the sun and the picture in his head for directions.

Seth will miss Peter Ragland and is grateful for all that the Yamu Village has given him to help protect Seth during his journey. With one look back, Seth starts his long walk towards the Pyramid of Giza. Seth has climbed many huge pyramids, but not as huge as this one. Butterflies start fluttering in his stomach, but Seth tries his best to ignore them. Seth is still annoyed he lost his map in the Nile River, but he has always had a good sense of direction. When Seth was younger, his grandmother and him would sometimes look at the hieroglyphics of the Giza. Hieroglyphics are writings on stone. Seth remembered those special moments and hieroglyphics as he walked in the hot sun, his feet becoming more sore with each step. However, Seth could not give up now. He needed to get the Stone of Immortality to help his grandmother. He wanted his family to be proud of him. So, Seth picked up his pace and imagined himself climbing up the pyramid. But just then, Seth suddenly remembered something. Henry! Seth remembered when he saw Henry yesterday on his embark, but he did not see where Henry was heading. Seth looked around, but he did not see anyone in the vast desert.
After another hour of tired walking, Seth finally arrived at the pyramid. He was so happy! Seth jumped in the air, and fell to the soft, hot sand in pure delight. Just then, two Greek gods made Seth’s presence! Seth was very scared, for he had no clue who the two people in front of him were.

“Hello, Seth. I am Osiris, the God of the Underworld and the Judge of the Dead, and here next to me is Amon Ra, the God of the Sun.” Said Osiris, in a very calm voice.
“H-he-hello,” Seth muttered.
“No need to be worried,” spoke Amon Ra, “We are here to give you advice, support, and of course, water.” Said Amon Ra and Osiris.
“Oh,” Seth felt embarrassed. “Thank you.” Seth was in surprise.
“From me, Osiris, I wish you the most caution on the pyramid and that you can achieve the Stone of Immortality.” Osiris said to Seth.
“And from me, Amon Ra, I wish you the most guidance and luck on the pyramid.”
“Thank you, Osiris and Amon Ra, your advice gives me strength.”
“No one has achieved the Stone of Immortality in ten years, Seth. We believe in you, let your spirit bring you to the sun,” spoke Amon Ra.

Seth nodded his head carefully, a little worried. The gods handed him much water and he drank it very slowly. Make sure he is savoring every sip, before he started his climb in the heat of the huge sun. Seth thanked the gods again for everything they had given him, and Seth felt blessed. He looked at the very tip of the pyramid, smiled at the sky, and hooked his equipment up on the pyramid.
