This book is dedicated to my teachers, cat, and family.

Once upon a time, there was a monkey named Karen. Karen and her friends loved to play on the trees. They could swing and jump from tree to tree for days and never get bored. They absolutely loved their habitat in the beautiful, warm, Amazon Rainforest.

Karen was the most friendly monkey. She loved all of her friends and was kind and encouraging. Her fur was a stunning orange color, along with beautiful brown eyes. Karen’s best friend, Sam, also had orange fur, but, with amazing green eyes. He always had energy, and was very outgoing. Unlike Jeff, who was a bit of a grump, and no one really enjoyed his presence. He also possessed orange fur, and brown eyes. The rest of their monkey friends had orange fur and either had brown or green eyes.

One day, the monkeys heard a strange noise. So, they all decided to investigate. Karen and her friend Sam looked at what was happening first. They saw some strange looking creatures they had never seen before. The other monkeys came to look too. One of the monkeys thought the weird creatures were called “humans”.

They looked closer and saw these human creatures cutting down the trees! This couldn’t be happening, they loved the trees! They were so much fun to climb, jump, swing, and play on! So, the next day, all of the monkeys (even Jeff) decided to devise a plan to try and stop these evil human creatures from cutting down all of the trees.

Their plan was to make a lot of noise to scare the humans away. All of the monkeys went close to the humans, (not close enough for the humans to see them) and made a lot of noise. They yelled, stomped, and did anything they could to scare them away.

“What was that noise, Bobby?” asked Ethan, with a confused face.
“I don’t know, strange.” replied Bobby, with an equally confused face.

“It was probably an animal or something. Let’s get back to work.” said Ethan.
“ Ok. Are you sure we should cut down ALL of the trees? I mean, it’s bad for the ecosystem, birds, insects, and a bunch of other creatures that need them. Also, it results in lots of animals not having somewhere to live. I just don’t think we should cut all of them down.” stated Bobby.

“Stop being a baby, Bobby.” said Ethan. He continued to cut down the trees.
