King Julien

I am a ring-tailed lemur that is furry with a 15 to 18 inch body and a 22 to 24 inch black and white ringed tail. I weigh around 5 to 7 pounds and I'm about this size of a small dog. Some people mistake me for a raccoon, but don't let the black rings around my eyes fool you!

My Kingdom

My name is King Julien because I am the king of the jungle. I live in Madagascar, an island a part of the continent of Africa. I prefer to set up camp in the jungle where I can play on trees and sunbathe on the rocks.

Habitat

I spend my days ruling my kingdom and keeping every lemur in line. The forests are where you will find me, and I really like rocks. Sunbathing in the afternoon in the warm sun is so refreshing. My team and I spend at least an hour a day on the rocks.

Reproduction

I, King Julien, shall not reproduce! But my life story goes like this. From what I heard, my mother held me for 134-138 days. I breed at 30 weeks of age, and women, at 20 weeks. Breeding season is from April to July. After the end of that time one or two infants enter my kingdom. That is why I must rule the jungle!

Growth and Devolopment

Once I entered the world I was immediately clinging to my mother's back for about two weeks. At the age of 10 weeks I was finally able to taste all the various types of food in my jungle. Making that the beginning to my reign. Four weeks became the point in my life in which I stopped relying on my mother to give me food and back rides. I have become free!

Eating Habits

This is the best topic because I love fruit baskets! I eat only plants, but I prefer that people call me vegetarian. Flowers double as a delicious meal and pretty crown. Oh, and leaves sometimes taste good too. My crown is made out of leaves to show my importance throughout my kingdom.
