To my classmates

Whoosh! I was sprinting into the freezing ice rink. It was pouring down rain that felt like it was raining bullets! It was our second to last game of our season, and our goalie has a concussion so I’m going in.
At the ice rink it was cold, and it was a lot different as a goalie than player. Carrying a heavier bag.
As the Golden Eagles were warming up, we were passing and juggling a small soccer ball. I was stretching and warming up my cold hands.

All I could imagine were the hard first shots and amazing first saves.
My sister asked my coach if she was playing forechecking offense or savage defense.
Whenever he said "Offense” she was on top of cloud nine knowing she had a chance to score her first important goal.

“Let’s go Golden Eagles” I said.
“Ya we really need this big win” my sister said.
“Let’s have some good goals and some hard-blocked shots” my coach said.
In the locker room it was like lightning struck it was so electric. Ecstatic music playing. People screaming “Let’s go Eagles.”
As I was getting ready, I had my bottom gear on, and I was asking everybody “what we going to do this game?” I asked.

WIN” everybody else said.
“Wut we gonna do forever?” I asked.
“WIN.”
With that it was hard for everyone to be quite for the team speech. It was so quite you could hear a crumb drop as he said “This team is good, but we are to. All we have to do is play super hard, skate extra hard, get shots, and sink them and we can take home the W.” My coach said enthusiastically.

I was secretly wondering if any of the players would get a penalty.
All I could think about is me having a shutout and having amazing saves. I also wanted to keep one of my friends from my other team from scoring.
My sister was thinking about herself scoring first goal of the season.
All the players were thinking about winning this game.
My other coach said “to win we have to play defense and not have Kai take to many shots. Just because he is a good goalie, we don’t want any mistakes for us to lose and Kai lose his shutout.”
As we were warming up on the ice, I was stopping a lot of shots and letting a couple in.
“Goalie Ready!?” The ref yelled and I raised my glove.

As the puck dropped the other team won the faceoff, they beat one defense men and it was a two on one situation and I stopped the shot. As shot after shot came I stopped them. The first period was over it was one to nothing on a breakaway goal.
My coach said I was doing excellent and just to stay big.

In the second period it was shot after shot after shot. At the end of the period it was 3to1 and the other team scored on a 2 on 0 and a tipped shot. We scored on a power play.
In the third period I took 25 shots and stopped 23. The final score was 5 to 2. It was a close game, but we lost.
I felt terrific to play a game of that closeness and be in net. I learned that I must stay bid and stop those shots. I hope that I play many more games and win.
