The Hispanic Flamenco Ballet

... was this beautiful show that turned to be a great opportunity for my students to have a closer approach to the Latin American Culture while being in their own home country. The show teaches about the development of different rhythms that tell the story of many Spanish speaking countries through life music, dances, and interaction

Off we went!

All of my students took off in a school bus with a lot of expectations about what that day was going to bring!

45 students and three teachers took the bus that would take us to the town where the show was going to take place. The students had the opportunity to meet each other better as we traveled, and talked about the expectations of this field trip. No one but me, had ever seen the show before, so all the students were really looking forward to getting to the place.

...Then, starting in Mexico, going through Colombia, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, the students witnessed a wonderful display of music and dances, full of history, color, and stories told in their most wonderful costumes. The students were also told how music was born and has evolved along these many years to provide identity to all these countries and regions.

Though, the fun part was still yet to come

After the first show, our students were invited to come up on stage to practice to dance different music such as salsa, merengue, cumbias, etc. They did enjoy it to the most.

Even though most of them were pretty shy, many of the stepped up the to feel in their own blood what it is to be a Latino!

Flamenco, milongas, y tangos were some other rhythms that our students could witness; this wonderful music that tells the stories of old Argentina and Spain caught our students’ attention to a very high point, due to the elegance, coordination and outstanding looking of the people performing.
