128 DAYS LATER:
The citizens of Crumblewood have been living in terror ever since the rise of the zombies. Many locals have gone missing and haven't been heard from again. The once-bustling streets and shops of this delightful little town are now deserted. Only a small group of survivors remain, waiting for the nightmare to end. They've sought refuge in the home of Callum and Macey Hughes. Supplies were running low and tempers started to flare. It was inevitable after weeks of being cooped up in the house with several strangers. Soon a brave group of souls would have to venture out to get food and medicine.

Dolores Hughes was a nine year old girl who lived in the home with her parents and older sister Leah. Fourteen year-old Leah had spent the entire zombie apocalypse on her Iphone texting her schoolmates about boys and pop stars. She seemed to be disinterested in the fact that the world outside was on the verge of collapse. Dolores seemed to be incredibly composed for someone so young. Perhaps she was too young to know what a zombie really was or maybe she was a little excited by all of the chaos going on around her. Nothing this eventful ever happened in Crumblewood.

"Alright" Callum Hughes began, "Heath, Kit, and I are going to make a run to the market to gather some supplies. The rest of you will remain here where it's safe. We'll try to be as quick as possible." "Can I go too?" Dolores jubilantly inquired. "Of course not Dolores. There are zombies out there and it's very dangerous. You don't want to end up as a snack for one of those buggers." "I'm not afraid of them. They look like people who woke up from a long nap." "It's not that simple Love. Stay here with your Mum and the others." "Oh, do be careful Callum!" Dolores' Mum cried out. "We will" he replied kissing his daughter on the forehead as he lead his team outside.

"Here's the plan mates. We take the truck to the local market. Stock up on as much food and other necessities that you can carry. And remember to always be on the lookout for zombies. One bite and you turn into one of those dodgy demons. They could be lurking in the store, in the aisles, or even in the truck. Always be on high alert." Little did Dolores' father know that his precocious young daughter was hiding in the back of the truck underneath a blanket. She wanted to be part of this adventure so she remained hidden during the entire trip. The men tried to calm their nerves by singing the songs they belted out at their Saturday footy matches.

"Remember gents, in and out. Grab what you can and then let's get outta here!" The three men cautiously walked up to the door of the abandoned market. There were no cars in the parking lot except for a double decker bus which had burst into flames. When the men ran into the market, Dolores managed to sneak in behind them undetected. Once they got inside, it appeared as though most of the shelves had been stripped bare. Thankfully there looked to be enough food and supplies remaining to get them through the next few weeks. While the men frantically filled their bags, more and more zombies started to gather outside the market.

As her Dad and his mates rummaged for supplies, Dolores did some investigating of her own. Usually this market was packed with people, especially on weekends. But today, all was quiet. All was calm. Well, at least until Heath knocked over some canned goods in one of the aisles. Soon he was surrounded by groaning zombies. He fought them off for a while before climbing atop some shelves. "You okay Heath?" Kit yelled out. "Yeah, but I think it's time we get out of here! We got company!" Dolores feverishly searched for something to drink. But the drinks were too high for her to reach. A stranger handed her a bottled drink that she guzzled down before belching.

“Pardon me!” Dolores giggled. In the distance she heard the screeching tires of the truck that had brought her to the market. Dolores had been left all alone with a zombie....and she loved it! She took the zombie's cold, clammy hand as they walked into the woods. "Thanks for the drink, um, what do I call you? I'm sure you had a name before all this zombie stuff happened. Maybe I'll give you one. Lawrence? Maxwell? Hugh? No, Hugh's a kid in my class who wipes boogers on his sleeve. I know....Ziggy! Yes! It's brilliant!" Hey! You're not going to eat that arm are you? Eww! I got something from the market for you to munch on instead.”

The three men safely made it home as they banged on the back door looking for entry. "Hurry!" Callum shouted. As soon as the men got inside, the back door was boarded up by their fellow housemates. "We had a successful run. We got a wide variety of fruit, meat, vegetables, and medicine. Yet, I can't help but feel that I forgot something." "Have you seen Dolores???" "No, why? I thought she was here with you." "I've looked everywhere and she's not here. You sure she didn't tag along with you?" "Why would we bring her? It's too dangerous." "Oh no! Our baby girl's out there surrounded by rabid zombies. You pillocks! Do something!" Dolores' Mum roared.
