Thank you for reading this book, I dedicate this book to Mr. Ben Gillam the pilot who took me in my first private plane ride

My Time At
Starbase
“YES”, I screamed! My parents just told me I was going to Starbase at Dobbins Airforce Base. Star base is a camp that primarily teaches kids at title one schools about science and aeronautics, I really want to be a pilot when I grow up. So without further ado let me tell you about my experience at Star Base.

Day#1 Monday
Everyone was huddled around talking to the other kids they knew and getting to know the ones they didn’t. I was filled with so much excitement about what the week might be like. All of the sudden, we heard the door unlock and a woman told us to come in. She told our parents to sign us in and then she directed us in to the room on our left. Every boy in my class at school was there, it was Skyler, Eli, Isaac, Asher and Jonah. As soon as everyone had gathered in the room the woman started talking. We listened intently.
She said her call sign was Kitty Hawk, then she pointed towards a man and said his call sign was Vector. There were two other teachers whose call signs were Froggie and Bell. Kitty Hawk told the basics; like where we needed to go and basic information. Skyler, Eli, Asher and Isaac were all put in the same classroom but Jonah and I were put into classroom #1. I was in Bravo group and Johnah belonged to Echo group. All day we learned about the metric system and then built model rockets afterwards, we went home. The day flew by and I couldn’t wait to come back in the morning.

Day#2 Tuesday
It was Tuesday morning, we began in room #2. We learned about Newton’s laws until lunch. Then we switched classrooms to learn about the six pack (which is a group of switches a pilot looks at). After we learned the rules we actually got to go into the flight simulator room. Once we got in there Mr. Vector showed us how to fly the simulator and reset our flight if our mission failed. After a few minutes he showed us how to change where we flew. It was amazing to fly a plane on the simulator.
