On a rainy Friday Perry the Platypus was
stuck at home. His mother, Fiona the Platypus
asked Perry if he could help her clean the
house.
Perry being a good platypus said “Yes mother
I would be more than happy to help.”
Perry started by going up to his attic to clean
up.

Perry found a box with a piece of tape the read
“James Carter Platypus the 3rd’s Science box
of magic”. The box was unlocked so Perry went
on to open it. Perry was puzzled, there was
only one book. “The Periodic Table” Perry
opened the book, and inside the book Perry
went.

Perry had been sucked into the book!

The only way out of this
book is to be read by
it's prisoner.

In the instructions the book said that the only
way for Perry to escape was that he had to
read the entire book!

Dmitri Ivancritch
Mendeleff was the man
who came up with the
first version of the
periodic table in 1864.
Since that year more
than 700 versions
have been proposed.

The first page of the book explained how
Dmitri Ivancritch Mendeleff was the man who
came up with the first version of the periodic
table in 1864. Since that year more than 700
versions have been proposed. Perry wished
that this would be the only book the gets
sucked into ever again.

"The periodic table is organized by listing
elements in order of increasing atomic mass.
It's divided into vertical columns called groups
or families and horizontal rows called periods."
Perry remembered reading this in his IPC class
so it was old news to him.

Metals: RED
Non Metals: YELLOW
Metalloids:GREEN

Perry read the physical properties of metals,
1. They have metallic shine or luster.
2. They are usually solids at room
temperature.
3. They are malleable.
4. They are ductile meaning that they can be
drawn into thin sheets or wires without
breaking.
5. They are good conductors of heat and
electricity.

Metals: RED
Non Metals: YELLOW
Metalloids:GREEN

Perry read the physical properties of
nonmetals.
1. They rarely ave metallic luster.
2. They are usually gases at room
temperature.
3. Nonmetallic solids are neither malleable nor
ductile.
4. They are poor conductors of heat and
electricity.

Metals: RED
Non Metals: YELLOW
Metalloids:GREEN

Perry read the physical properties of
metalloids.
The six metalloids are B, Si, Ge, As, Sb, Te.
The properties of the metalliods have
characteristics in between that of the metals
and the nonmetals. They are good conductors
of heat and electricity, but they are not good
conductors or insulators.

ALKALI
METALS!

Perry had made it half way through the book.
Just a few more pages and Perry can escape
the book!
