More than 200, 000 people climb to the summit each year and more than 13, 000 shrines are dedicated to Fuji mountain (ふじさん). The Eruption
The eruption began on October (じゅうがつ) 26th of 1707, when Honshu (ほんしゅ) was hit by an earthquake. In less than 2 (に) months on December (じゅうにがつ) 16th, Mt Fuji (ふじさん) began to erupt. Over the next few weeks, Mt Fuji (ふじさん) erupted 0.68 km3 of material before the eruption ended at the start of 1708. Ash from the eruption only reached as far as Tokyo (ときょ).

The mountain is about 3, 776 meters in height while the crater is about 500 meters wide. The last time Mount Fuji (ふじさん) erupted a large crater accompanied by a mini sized volcano appeared next to Mount Fuji (ふじさん).
