Workers in the 30s were greatly unsatisfied with their conditions and wages. Labor's Upheaval came with thousands of strikes in a single year and violent encounters with police trying to stop outbreaks.

During the Great Depression, lack of jobs forced many Mexican-Americans to move back to Mexico. Those who stayed worked in terrible conditions as agricultural workers.
The New Deal was put into place by FDR to improve the lives of Americans during the Great Depression through programs like the CCC, WPA, and TVA.
