Chapter 1

"Lillykit, please step forward," Midstar yowled. She had recovered from her "wolf" attack but had seemed to have forgotten what happened. Lillykit glanced at her father, Eaglefrost, who looked calm giving nothing away. She quickly stepped forward. "Lillykit, from this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as "Lillypaw!" Your mentor will be your father, Eaglefrost!"

Lillypaw froze. She had been avoiding her father who had said that he would rip her throat out if she told anyone that Eaglefrost almost killed Midstar. Lillypaw staggered over to her farther and touched his nose ,

then sat down by her friends and brothers, Aquapaw, Coverpaw, Darkpaw, Berrypaw, and Acornpaw. Darkpaw looked at her with eyes filled with concern and worry. The dark brown tom was the only other cat who knew what Eaglefrost had done.

"Clan dismissed!" Midstar yowled jumping down from the Star Stone.

"Berrypaw I know you just got apprenticed but I your help!" Honeycrisp called. Berrypaw looked at Lillypaw and Acornpaw, "Sorry got to start my lessons! After the wolf attack..." He trailed away, lost in thought. The wolf attack was terrible and the clan was still recovering. She sighed, "It's okay. Have fun!" she said cheerfully. Then Darkpaw came up, "Bad luck?" he asked softly. "No, just

dumb luck" Lillypaw grumbled. He purred in amusement. "Shut up!" she jabbed back. "Darkpaw come on," yowled Cloverpaw impatiently. "Coming!" he called. He nodded at Lillypaw and ran to his sister. Then Acornpaw ran up. "What was that?" he hissed, eyes flaring with anger. "A laugh," she said simply. Why was Acornpaw acting so strangely? "You okay?" Lillypaw asked. "I'm fine!" Acornpaw snarled. Then swung around and marched away. Lillypaw stared at her brother in shock. Is my whole family is going to turn on me?
