I dedicate this book to my favorite pal Black Jack.

Having a conure for a pet can be a challenging responsibility. They are not your average pet. Conures need specialized care. They need a special diet, a safe place to live, and a lot of interaction.

Hello!
Conures need special food to eat. You can find food pellets at a notable pet store like Pets Mart. They also need fresh fruits and vegetables like sweet potatoes, broccoli, apples, blueberries, and zucchini. However, never feed your conure avocados, chocolate, or people snack foods. These are not good for them and may cause severe health problems. Lastly, make sure your bird always has fresh water to drink.

Food

Entertainment
A conure loves to play. They love to throw small balls and ring bells. In fact, a conure will put everything he comes in contact with into his mouth. So, beware! Be sure to keep all tiny objects and dangerous materials (like plastic wrap) away from your pet.
Your conure will enjoy a gentle neck scratching. This soothes them. They often close their eyes as they relax.

Shelter
Your pet should have a safe, roomy place to live. The cage should be large enough to accommodate climbing. It should be equipped with a variety of perches as well. Remember to place bird-safe toys inside the cage to entertain your bird. Changing the toys out periodically will help prevent your bird from becoming bored.

Being a bird owner is a big responsibility. Conures are curious birds and can easily get into mischief, so be proactive by keeping things that can be potentially dangerous out of their reach. They are very social and need your interaction each day. Play and talk with your pet. You will find that your conure is very smart and affectionate. With work and thoughtful consideration, you can become big buddies.
