"Why don't they like me?" She asked Brandon the Bug.

"I might just know why", said the green little guy.

"Let us go for a stroll", said the bug to the gal.

So Piper decided to walk with her pal.

"Do you think you could share with me what you've been thinking? Do they simply dislike me?"

Piper asked without blinking.

"No need to be weary of what I might say",

Brandon comforted Piper, looking up, far away.

"Do you know strength of the sun's single ray?

I have you a message I wish to relay.

Of how the sun's a hot star, which brightens our day.

Although we enjoy it, in the sky it will stay.

For if it came down to the ground where we play,

It would definitely harm us, and from it we'd stray.

It isn't the sun's fault, it's just nature's way.

with a jig and a jump.

And Brandon was cautious,

that her quills would not bump

And poke into his skin, this would be accidental.

She was merely excited, he was not judgmental.

"I'm simply too warm, for our animal friends".

Brandon chuckled at this, which he did not intend.

"Not quite", as he pondered a new way to reason.

"Those critters don't know you, they know what they'd be squeezin'"

"If they gave you a hug," he went on to explain

"Your nature might harm them, and for this they refrain".

"Though I know you mean well, that you cannot help it,

The animals don't, but you are no misfit.

There are plenty of animals with defense mechanisms.

They stay true to themselves.

They accept criticisms."

"Like the sun and its role in giving us life,

Your quills are a part of you, don't see them as strife.

For you are so special, it's just who you are.

And nature has its way of setting the bar.

So love yourself, and let good qualities shine through

And just like the sun, you'll have admirers too.
