is for Adams
Brothers John and Samuel Adams played influential roles in the American Revolution and founding of the United States of America. However, Sam Adams specifically laid out many of the founding ideologies.


is for The British Empire
Before the American Revolution, the British Empire was one of the most powerful empires the world had ever seen.


is for the Constitution

Adopted in 1789 by the United States of America, the Constituion served as the governing document for the United States and embodied many of the ideologies that the Colonists were fighting for during the Revolution.

is for Declaration of Independence

The document that listed the Colonists' grievances against the British Crown and set the Colonist down a path towards war.

is for Equality

Through Republicanism and the Constitution, the United States reached levels of equality that had never been seen before, however the Country still had a long way to go.
is for Family structure

The ideology of Republicanism dramatically changed the typical family structure. Now, daughters were often included in inheritances, wives felt greater levels of equality in their marriages, and women in general began to feel as though they possessed natural rights as well.
is for Greivances

In The Declaration of Independence, Colonists listed many of their grievances against the British Crown. Some of these included:
-Colonists unable to participate in Government
-Colonists have been forced to house British Soldiers
-Colonists are denied Jury Trials by their peers
-Colonists have been taxed without their consent
is for Hamilton

Throughout the Revoltution and the years following, Alexander Hamilton was a strong proponent of a strong national government in order to allow the United States to live up to its potential as a world power.

is for Ideology

The most accurate and complete narrative for the American Revolution is one that focused on how at its core the American Revolution was a battle over ideologies.
is for Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson, who served as the 3rd president of the United States, was also the principal writer of the Declaration of Independence. As the author, Jefferson laid out many of the grievances against the King and the rights he believed the Colonists should have.

is for King

Tyrannical acts by King George III is what ultimately pushed the Colonists towards Revolution.

is for Liberty

Colonists possessing Liberty was one of the fundamental ideologies of the American Revolution. Without Liberty, the United States would not be what it is today.
is for Militia

Without colonial militias fighting efforts alongside the Continental Army, victory may not have been possible.

is for Natural rights

An ideology expressed by Sam Adams in his writing The Rights of the Colonists. Adams believed that all colonists should have the right to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness.

is for Oppression

The oppression that the Colonists experienced following the end of the Seven Years war by the British Empire is what ultimately led to the American Revolution.
is for Paine

Thomas Paine's Common Sense was one of the most influential writings of the American Revolution. It provided a common language for Revolution, while also laying out many ideologies that would eventually be used to create the foundation for this new nation.
