Hi I am McKenna. My mom and I just moved to a new town, and I don't know anyone here and my first day of school is here.

I am starting school today and so very scared and nervous. So many things are going through my head. What happens if I get lost? What if kids are mean and don't like me?

On the first day of class, my belly feels sick and I just want to stay with my mom. I feel like I am all alone. I close my eyes and walk into class as I take a deep breath.

My teacher asks my name and I tell the class McKenna. McKenna, tell everyone one thing about you. I am thinking real hard about what is interesting about me as everyone is looking at me. I closed my eyes and I blurted out, "I live on a farm."

All I heard was, " Wow,that is soooo cool." And the next thing I know is my new classmates are asking all kinds of questions. I found myself relieved and answering all kinds of questions about our farm.

The next thing I know my teacher and my mom arrange for a class trip to my family farm. I am not so sure why I was scared to meet knew people. My mom has always taught me to be confident and kind, and I can't go wrong. My mom said she never was worried about me, but I know she isn't telling me the whole truth.

My mom was also scared to move and run a farm, it is a lot of very hard work. My mom works when it is dark in the morning until it is time for dinner. Then she back on the tractor until everything is done.

My mom is the best, I know that she secretly set up that field trip to our farm to help me. Helping me to fell comfortable so she could feel better about our new home, school and farm.

Whenever you are placed in a new and scary situation, take a deep breath and be confident and kind. Just like my new friends were to me. Take chances and it may just be the best thing that has ever happened to you.
