Colonel Paul W. Tibbets was the pilot of the B-29. He was only 30 years old when he dropped the bomb on Hiroshima.

General Douglas MacArthur and other top commanders favored the conventional bombing and nick-named it "Operation Downfall".

HirohIto was the Emperor of Japan when America bombed Hiroshima. Hirohito surrendered only nine days after the bombing, on August 15, 1945, which was signed on September 2, 1945 on the battleship Missouri.

Japan was bombed with nuclear bombs twice by America in 1945. America bombed the cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Nagasaki was hit harder than Hiroshima because the Nuke was heavier and built to do more damage.

Kokura was the second target to be bombed by nuclear bomb "Fat Man", but the clouds over the city forced the pilot to drop "Fat Man" on Nagaskai instead.
