One day, a little boy named Dario was doing his chores. He was sad because he really wanted to play with his friends outside. "This is an awful day!" he cried to his mom, "all of my friends are playing catch and I am stuck cleaning."

"Oh, cheer up," Dario's mother comforted him, "this kitchen needed some tidying up. Besides, you never know what treasures you may find in this mess." Dario sighed and apologized for getting upset. He knew he had responsibilities and being upset was not going to make his chores any easier.

Dario continued sweeping. Suddenly, something caught his eye. It was bright yellow and shiny and it was hiding in the corner on the floor. Dario put the broom down and walked towards it. It was a jellybean! A bright yellow jellybean like he'd never seen before, in the shape of a heart.

"I have never seen a jellybean like this! It must be lucky." Dario whispered to himself. Just then, his mom turned and looked at him. "Okay, you have worked hard enough today. You can go play catch with your friends." Dario could not believe his ears. He thanked his mom with a hug and ran outside. "I knew it was lucky." Dario thought.

When he was playing catch with his friends, he caught the ball every single time. That never happened before! Dario felt his jellybean inside his pants pocket. "I knew it was lucky." he thought.

After the friends all got tired and went home, Dario saw an ice cream truck coming his way. He remembered he didn't have any money and sadly put his hands in his pockets and began to walk away. He stopped walking when he felt a strange slip of something in his pocket. He pulled his hand back out and gasped. "A dollar!" he happily ran towards the ice cream truck. He was so glad he found that jellybean, "I knew it was lucky." he thought.

After finishing his ice cream, Dario went home and sat on his bed thinking about all the wonderful things that happened to him that day because of his lucky jellybean. He slowly began to fall asleep with a smile on his face.

When Dario woke up from his nap, his mom came into his room. "I have a surprise for you!" she said. Dario looked at her arms and his eyes widened at the brown puppy sleeping in them. Dario had always wanted a dog, and now thanks to his lucky jellybean he finally had one.
