Sydney, I wonder why I don't eat like you?
I'll Tell you why!

On a sunny day in the forest while training, Lilligant started to ponder. Lilligant started to question how they didn't eat like their trainer.
Luckily Sydney was there to answer Lilligant's question!
Sydney said "Well the first thing to know is that you use Photosynthesis!"
Lilligant replied "Photo-what? What is that?"
Sydney then explained photosynthesis "It is a process that captures energy from the sun to make sugars!"

What is that?!
Photosynthesis!

6CO2 + 6H20 + LIGHT ENERGY ---> C6H12O6 + 6O2
That's alot to remember!
While walking through the forest Sydney kept on explaining Photosynthesis.
Sydney continued "Did you know there is even a formula for Photosynthesis? It is...
6CO2 + 6H20 + Light Energy ---> C6H12O6 + 6O2 "
(Carbon Dioxide) + (Water) + (Sunlight) --> (Sugar) + (Oxygen)
Sydney helped Lilligant understand the equation
Sydney said "So plants like you need the air I breathe out and water along with the sun! Then you convert that into sugars such as cake and candy and also oxygen which is what I breathe!"

Lets go see how the chloroplast look like!
Ok!
Lilligant then said "Oh! That makes sense, I also saw that it occurs in the chloroplast somewhere! Is it true?"
Sydney replied "It sure is, the chloroplast is a organelle that is only found in plant cells! It is where photosynthesis takes place in!"

Lilligant was surprised and asked "Is that how a chloroplast looks like?"
Sydney replied "Yep! So you see those green pancakes right? Well they're called Thylakoids, and if you take a bunch of thylakoids and stack them, you will have a Granum."
Lilligant exclaimed "Wow, it's like a bunch of tiny green pancakes!"
Sydney explained further "The Stroma is a liquid-like matter that surrounds those Granums. Lumen is what is in the thylakoids."
Lilligant was fascinated by all of this stuff, "How does it appear green?"
Sydney said "Because of chlorophyll! It is a pigment that absorbs different coloured light but little of green! It reflects most of green so that is why it looks green!"

2 processes of photosynthesis!
Light-dependent and Light-independent, also known as the Calvin Cycle!
Lilligant was starting to get the hang of this photosynthesis!
Sydney added "Of course photosynthesis isn't that simple, there is more! Such as the light-dependent and light-independent. Light-independent is also known as the dark reactions or as the Calvin cycle."
Lilligant then said "So does one use light and the other one doesn't?"
Sydney, "Yes it is similar to that! Light-dependent uses sunlight and water to make energy in the thylakoids. That energy is called ATP and NADPH. This is where oxygen, the air I breathe, is made and then released into the air."

Lilligant then nodded and said very excitedly "Ooh! I know this part, the Calvin cycle! The Calvin cycle takes place in the Stroma. It uses the energy made by the light dependent, ATP and NADPH, along with Carbon Dioxide (CO2). That is when glucose or the simple sugars are made!"

Sydney? You shouldn't have come here! I shall defeat you!
Not so fast Keita! I'm not going to lose!
Sydney was about to continue until another trainer showed!
Keita had showed up! Keita shouted " Hey you, Sydney! Today is the day I finally defeat you!"
Sydney replied back "No going to give up? Then let's see who is better!"
Suddenly Vulpix used a ice type attack!
Lilligant started to get tired, "Why do I feel tired?"
Sydney then said "The temperature is dropping causing you to feel tired! Don't worry I got an idea! Braixen! Cast fireball!"
Fennekin came out and used a fire-type move causing the temperature to rise back up and defeating the Vulpix!

Phew! That was close!
Ugh!? I lost again! I'll come back just you wait!

After the surprise battle, they calmed down.
Lilligant said "So temperature affects photosynthesis?"
Sydney replied "Yes, there are other elements that affect photosynthesis"
Then a thought popped into Lilligant's head!
Lilligant asked "But how do plants not use all the Carbon Dioxide?"

But won't the CO2 run out eventually?
Yes, but that is where Cellular Respiration comes into play!

Respiration uses the products from photosynthesis to start!

Sydney explained cellular respiration.
"Cellular respiration releases chemical energy from the sugars and carbon dioxide to make ATP when oxygen is near"
Lilligant then said "When oxygen is near? What do you mean by that?"
Braixen heard Lilligant and said "Cellular Respiration is a Aerobic process. Also it happens in all cell including plants and animals"
Sydney added "Not only that! There is also an equation for Respiration. Don't worry it's nothing new, actually it is like the photosynthesis one! The only difference is that they switch or are opposites."
C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H20 + 34 ATP
(Sugar) + (Oxygen) --> (Carbon dioxide) + (water) + energy

C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H20 + 34 ATP

Cytoplasm and Mitochondria!
Yep!

Braixen also help explain respiration to Lilligant too.
Braixen said "Well respiration happens in two different places, the cytoplasm and the mitochondria"
Lilligant was confused and couldn't help ask "Cytoplasm and mitochondria? What is that?"
Sydney used a magnifying glass on Braixen's hand and showed them the mitochondria.
Sydney said "The cytoplasm is the space in the cell that holds the very tiny organelles together!"
Braixen also added "The mitochondria is the energy supplier of the cell!"

Sydney explained even more " Cellular Respiration has 3 stages! Glycolysis, Krebs cycle and the Electron transport chain. To make it short and simple glycolysis is first and takes place in the cytoplasm. It only makes 2 ATP, It splits the sugars into half. Like a sandwich cut into half! It is a anaerobic process.
Braixen continued "The next stage is Krebs cycle and it takes place in the mitochondrion. Inside of the mitochondrion it takes place of the matrix. Not the movie, the matrix! It only make 2 ATP and using the sandwich example earlier imagine those halves of the sandwich cut into half again! The Krebs cycle does the same to the sugars and is anaerobic.
