Chapter 1
That’s Mrs.Grenda!
“Spice! Please report to the main office, now.” Mrs.Grenda calls sternly over the PA system. Spice stands out of her seat, as many students stare her down, waiting for her to throw a fit about it. “What now?” Spice wonders to herself. Spice brushes the dust off her purple and black, leather skirt before she exits the classroom. Walking through the halls was like a nightmare. A place where everyone can watch you, and silently judge you depending on
what you wear, the way you walk, and even the way you tilt your head. When Spice entered the office, she was quickly guided over to Mrs.Grenda for a small chat. “Yes?” Spice asked Mrs.Grenda. “Your performance at school is satisfactory to say the least, but that's not why you're here today, Spice.” “Then what else could you possibly want me here for?” Spice groaned. “You see Spice, not one person at this school is unaware of you being a witch, in fact it’s been this way for a while.” Mrs.Grenda started. “But you may have noticed that not everyone is happy with it. That’s why your
mother and I have arranged that you attend a new school. But this time we want you to play a different role.” Spice slammed her fists on the desk, as she quickly complained that she was a student and there was no other role to play. “Oh. but there is. You see Spice, when one is a witch and eight hundred are human, in just an innocent little school, well majority wins.” “What exactly are you proposing?” Spice asks, as she suspiciously watches Mrs.Grenda’s every move. “It’s not hard Spice. Attend this new school and teach those who feel lost, and in the dark as you do. Teach them how you get by in a world of humans. Teach them how to do your evil witchcraft.”
Mrs.Grenda exclaims. “How do you expect me to teach them if I’m not the teacher?” Spice asks. “Exactly!” Mrs.Grenda snaps. “What do you mean?” Spice demands. “Be the teacher Spice. Build your evil army and take over the world, with me as your sidekick!” Mrs.Grenda laughs synodically. “In your dreams, dragon breath.” Spice groans as she slaps Mrs.Grenda in the face. “And you can’t punish me for that. After all you're not my principal anymore, and I’m a witch.” Spice hops onto her old broomstick as she flies out the window shattering the freshly polished glass. “You're paying for that, kid!” Mrs.Grenda yells. “But you already know I won’t.”
Spice calls as she sores off into the distance. “After all, cops can’t fly.” Spice mumbles to herself.
Chapter 2
A Teacher’s Terror
As soon as Spice got home, she threw off her bag and stomped over to her mom. “Mom!” Spice calls. “I need to talk to you, now!” Suddenly, Spice’s mom, Sugar, comes walking down the stairs with her flowing blonde hair, crystal blue eyes, and a remarkably, gorgeous, blue and white, flowing dress. “Yes, Spice?” Sugar asks. “Um, well I just wanted to let you know that you're the best mom ever.” Spice exclaims. Sugar giggles
“And why is that?” Sugar asks in a light, and comforting tone. “Because literally, I've been waiting my whole life to be able to slap Mrs.Grenda in the face without getting in trouble!” Spice exclaims with glee in her eyes. “Right.” Sugar starts. “So Mrs.Grenda told you that you’ll be teaching at this new school, right?” “Well yeah, but I didn't think she meant literally.” Spice replies. “Well, she was being literal, and your first day of teaching starts tomorrow.” Sugar informs her. “What do you mean I start tomorrow?!” Spice complains. “I’m sixteen years old.Do you just expect me to get a teaching degree out of nowhere?” “Well, Spice. As a witch,
who will be teaching at a school primarily for witches, why would you need a teaching degree?” Sugar asks.
“I guess I wouldn’t if I’m just
teaching spells and such”
Spice realises. “Now
then” Sugar says as she
folds laundry. “You best be
getting yourself mentally
prepared for teaching
tomorrow.” Spice nods in
agreement as she hurries
up the stairs.
Spices high heel
boots made noise throughout
the whole upper hall from
the old, squeaky wood
that leads to her bedroom. Throughout the night, Spice contemplated going to teach tomorrow or not. “At the age of sixteen, most kids are learning how to drive, and I guess I'm way ahead of them.” Spice told herself. The morning of Spice’s first day of teaching was a busy one. Everyone was rushing and yelling (actually only Spice was). Spice threw her black, leather jacket on, as the cold, crisp Autumn breath filled the room. “I’m heading out, now.” Spice called
out to her mom. Sugar ran right up to Spice and gave her a huge hug. “Stay safe okay, Spice.” Sugar told her daughter. “Why don’t you say that everyday?” Spice asked. Sugar looked Spice in the eyes without responding. “Make me proud today.” Sugar reminded her. Spice nodded. Sugar waved as a tear fell from her eye. Spice looked back once, then headed out the door on her broomstick. Sugar waved once more as Spice rode off into the distance without looking back. Spice looked down at the ground as she sighed.
“Well, I guess today I’m gonna have to stop acting like myself or I’ll be fired the second I enter the classroom.” Spice thought to herself in terror. “What am I even gonna teach?” Spice finally arrived at the new school. Mr.Salt, the principal, invited her into his office. “Hello, Spice.” Mr.Salt said politely. “Hi.” Spice replied nervously. “Are you excited for your first teaching, Spice?” Mr.Salt asked. “The abnormal children in the world could never imagine someone like themself coming to teach them all about who they really are.” “I guess I’m excited.” Spice responded in doubt. “What am I even gonna be teaching?” Spice asked. “How to make potions,
how to curse people, how to use a wand, and last but certainly not least, how to fly a broomstick.” Mr.Salt said in excitement. “You’d best head off to class now, the bells are about to ring.” Spice nodded nervously as she left the office. While leaving the office, she accidentally bumped into a young girl. The girl had gorgeous deep blue hair, and the most magnificent lilac-purple eyes Spice had ever seen. Her dress had an ombre that faded from blue, to pink, to purple. Her dress was accented with orange tights with red criss-crossed stripes.
“Oh my goodness.” Spice gasped.
“I’m so sorry.” “No, no.”
the young girl apologised. “I wasn’t
paying attention to where
I was going, how rude of
me.” “Don’t worry about
It.” Spice answered.
“What’s your name, little
Girl?” “Um.. Crystal.”
She replied with joy.“Oh no! The bells are about
to ring.” Spice cried. Spice ran off down the hall without explanation. Crystal shrugged, as she continued her way to class. Spice yanked the door
knob of the classroom. It made an awful, dreadful squeak, one like she’d never heard before. Spice ran over to the desk with minimal school supplies, such as: a jar of spider legs, goblin teeth, snake snot, and the dreadful, most disgusting of them all, oger eyes. “Yes. This is my type of school.” Spice said in pleasure. Suddenly, the bells rang. Spice felt her heart leap out of her chest. The first student in class was a young girl, not the same girl as before though. She had slightly curly deep brown hair, with beaming brown eyes. Her dress sent chills up Spice’s spine, as it was black with red drip marks from the collar down to the chest, and beneath, a pure white
skull. Her skirt was black with a skull pattern. Her pants were nothing more than a deep black. Her shoes were white with red tips at the ends. Spice stared at the young girl as she passed her gaze around the room. After two whole minutes, the second student arrived in class. This girl was much more innocent looking than the one before her. She had luscious blonde hair and emerald green eyes. She had a black cat headband and her dress had a little white cat picture. The bottom of her dress had a yarn ball pattern. Her shoes had the design of black little kittens. The girl suddenly fell to the floor, as she let out a large hiss. Spice stood up from her
desk, to go see if she was alright. As the young cat girl stood up from the floor, Spice realised that the girls headband had not fallen off her head. “May I?” Spice asked the girl, as she pulled the ear of the headband. “Ouch!” cried the young girl. “That kinda hurts ya know.” Spice then pulled her hair away from her ear, and in her surprise, the girl had no ears!
Chapter 3
Class of Chaos
Spice immediately realized that those were her ears. “You.. what!” Spice gasped. Spice quickly realized that in a school such as this one, this was to be expected. Finally, Crystal entered the classroom. “Alright, let's begin”, Spice started. Suddenly, Spice lost her train of thought and went completely blank. Spice looked around the room. Crystal, and the rest of the students stared her down, just as her old classmates had. “Um.. how about we get to know
each other?” Spice suggested nervously. “Crystal, you first. What’s your name?” The students burst out with laughter. Spice realised why they were laughing quickly, but still caused her embarrassment. “You already know my name.” Crystal giggled. “Of course.” Spice remembered. “How about you in the skull dress.” The girl suddenly stood up and bowed her head. “Hi.” she said quietly to herself in a grim toned voice. “My name is Sweety”. “Great, I could really tell.” Spice thought to herself sarcastically. Spice nodded. “How about you with the blonde hair.” The girl attemptively ignored Spice’s request. Spice waited a moment longer before the girl hissed loudly.
Spice’s eyes widened. “My name’s Cutie.” the girl snapped. “Is that good enough for you?” Cutie mumbled aggressively. “Well I guess I got to know you guys, let's get to work.” Spice exclaimed. “I actually don't know where anything is so just open your spell books and have fun, I guess.” Spice mumbled while recognizing she had let her true self get the best of her. The class looked confused that Spice was so clueless, but still pulled out their spell books. “It'll be okay, nobody cares that you have no idea what you're doing.” Spice whispered to herself. "Alright class let's make some positions” Spice explained nervously.
Cutie immediately raised her paw high in the air, and everyone (except for Spice) knew there was trouble when Cutie raised her paw. “Yes, Cutie.” Spice answered awkwardly. “Can we have a snack now? I'm hungry.” Cutie complained. “No, Cutie. You have to wait until after class.” Spice exclaimed. Cutie hissed. “If you don't let me have a snack now, one of these students will be my snack instead!" "Geez!", Spice gasps. "Cool your frogs, you can go have your snack." Cutie nodded in pleasure that her idea had worked so well. Cutie quickly flashed her teeth at Sweetie with a little grin. "Oh do you wanna fight me?!" Sweetie snaps. "Try me.” Cutie answered in an
assured tone." "Girls calm down!" Spice cries. “We’ll calm down when you prove that you can be a better teacher!” Sweetie yelled. Spice suddenly realized why nobody else could do the job that she had. Everybody was counting on her, but she let them go out of control. The only student who seemed passive in a way was Crystal. Spice sat down in the corner of the room in overwhelment. “You’re our teacher you’re supposed to have things under control!” Crystal suddenly cried out. “And now it’s her too.” Spice thought to herself with anxiety. “You know what. I don’t think our teacher is brave enough, to handle us!” Cutie snapped. “In fact, she’s just like the last
teacher. She’s probably not even a witch!” “Actually, I am.” Spice answered assuredly. “Oh really.” Sweetie starts. “And if you’re a witch, then you’ll be able to pass the ultimate witch test.” “Huh. What’s a witch test?” Spice asks. “Goodness this lady is crazy.” Crystal sighs.
Chapter 4
Lost in the Witch Test
“I’m not crazy!” Spice snapped. “Well” Cutie says annoyingly. “Oh, don’t you even-” Spice pauses. “Just give me the witch test and lets be done with it, okay.” “As you wish.” Sweetie replies. Sweetie then snapped her fingers, and then “Where am I?” Spice asked herself. Spice stared up at the tall, decrepit building that towered in front of her. “So this is the witch test then.” Spice sighed. Spice then pushed open the heavy wooden door of the old, abandoned building.
A cobweb brushed her face and broken glass, sparkling like ice, crushed under her black, leather boots. “How is this a test?!” Spice cried. Spice carefully pulled a piece of glass out of her boot, then headed for the old, wooden staircase. Spice pushed the staircase with the heel of her boot before starting up the first few steps. As Spice sauntered up the staircase, she came to a stop when she felt an uneasy feeling in her stomach. She soon realized why when the wood beneath her feet snapped right in the center. The heel of her boot dug deep into the wooden staircase, leaving her strapped, unable to move. “How do I always end up getting myself
into these messes?” Spice asked out loud. “Because you’re stupid and you’re not a witch!” Sweetie appeared just to tell her. Before Spice could say anything, Sweetie blurted out, “If you were a witch you would just pop out the ‘ol broomstick and fly outta here.” Then Crystal and Cutie appeared to judge Spice. Just then Spice grabbed her broomstick, as Sweetie had suggested, and flew up the rest of the staircase and through a crack in the wooden and decrepit roof. The girls below were flabbergasted. “It was my idea.” Sweetie exclaimed. Suddenly, the world in which the witch test took place crumbled back to a classroom.
“So, you passed” Crystal sighed. “Well no kidding I passed. I’m a witch!”, Spice explained.
“Maybe if you would believe me
for once, then you wouldn’t
be surprised anytime I do
something simple.”
“Well, maybe you
Are a witch.”
Sweetie
Started. “But
you’re still stupid!”
Spice Excused her rude and unnecessary comment. Just then Spices ears rose to a sudden knock on the
hurried to answer. Spice knew that Crystal had opened the door, but after that she heard nothing else.
Chapter 5
Strange Things
At this moment Spice realised she wasn’t the only one curious about what had happened. For a second Spice had thought that the students had to be tricking her or something, but they were just as confused as she was. “Crystal?” Spice asked. Spice turned the corner from her desk which led to the door. “Crystal!” Confusion turned to shock within seconds of realisation. Spice peared down the hall but saw nothing. The only thing left a deep blushing-rose
coloured goop splatters on the floor of the hallway. The other girls rushed over to the door out of curiosity. There was no way at this point they were tricking her because this was so strange. Somehow, Sweety had been brave enough to scoop the goop with the tip of her finger from off the floor. Sweety raised her finger towards Cutie’s nose. Cutie sniffed the goop and was quickly able to identify it. “Gummy bear goop.” Cutie exclaimed. “Excuse me?” Spice asked. “Well you may have not known this, but the candy kingdom is literally the next kingdom over.” Sweety explained. “So you suspect that a rogue gummy bear kidnapped Crystal and hopped away?”
Spice asked. “Precisely.” Cutie confirmed. “Well if that’s the case, let's go find ourselves a rogue gummy bear.” Spice exclaimed. Spice grabbed her broomstick from beneath her desk, and hurried flying out the door. “Hey lady!” Sweety called behind Spice. “Where’s our broomsticks?” “Oh yeah. Hop on girls.”Spice requested. The girls zoomed down the hall following the gummy bear goop wherever it went. “We’re getting near.” Cutie exclaimed. Spice turned down the corner and through the front door.
“I can sense it. The gummy bear is just around this corner of the school.” Sweety blurted. Surely another minute and Crystal would be saved. In a moment of desperation, Spice bolted for the corner of the school. The old and unstable wood snapped, and the small gust of magic left within it, burst out into the wind. “No!” Spice cried. “Well lookie here. I was just getting to know you and then you blew it for all of us.” Sweety groaned. “For a second there I actually liked her.” Cutie added. Spice sighed. “If she wasn’t so desperate then Crystal would be safe by now.” Sweety complained. “Girls that’s enough.” Spice moaned. “We’ll find Crystal, bring her back and
everything will be fine.” Spice said heroically. Meanwhile, Crystal scrambled in the sticky arms of the gummy bear. “Let go of me!” Crystal cried. Quickly enough, The gummy bear arrived at the candy kingdom. He hopped his way into the palace, and before them stood the almighty candy king. "Bring her to me" the king sighed. The gummy bear struggled to drop her out of his sticky arms. "Ugh. Gummy bears these days. So slow." the king groaned. The king grabbed Crystal by the collar of her dress. "Tell me where Spice is" the king demanded. "Why should I tell you her information?" Crystal snapped. "If not my gummy bears will escort you to the
disgusting dungeon" the king concluded.
Chapter 6
The Clues
"Ugh, fine" Crystal moaned. "but why?". "I'll give you ten hours to search my castle for clues. After that, you will make your decision. Dungeon or information." the king smirks. "Deal." Crystal responds. "Great. Gummy guards, keep an eye on her." the king finishes. "Yes sir." the gummy bears respond immediately. "Fantastic. Now leave me be!" the king snapped. "Lets go princess." the gummy bear guards claimed in a rude and disgusting tone. Crystal
quickly bares her teeth into one of the guards. "Ow what's wrong with you freak?" the gummy bear guard complains. "Nothing you rotten piece of dirt"." Crystal snaps. "Just start looking for the stupid clues already, you little, little.. ugh." The gummy bear sighs. "I can't say anything rude to a child." the gummy bear thought to himself. "Shut up, I'm trying to look for clues." Crystal groaned. Meanwhile the rest of the girls wandered aimlessly through the dark forest of death. "OMG guys look at this cool plant." Cutie exclaims. "Spice could you take a picture of me next to it.". "Of course, Cutie." Spice smiles. Cutie quickly ran over to the plant and smiled for the photo. Her smile
turned to fear when she heard barking from behind her. Cutie screamed. "Spice it's a monster!" Cutie cried. "Aww it's a little puppy." Sweety exclaims. Cutie hid behind Spice and hugged her waist. "Wait a dog growing out of a plant?" Spice questions. "I never saw anything like that at my old school.". "Ooh hello. Why are you here, today? " the dog sang. "Hmm, why does he sing everything?" Cutie asked. "Uh, I guess don't judge a book by its cover." Spice daydreamed. As soon as spice realized she was daydreaming, she gasped "How rude of me, my name is Spice and your name is...?" "my name is Buster and I bust a move on the dance floor."
sarcastically. "YES I WANT TO BE A DANCER!" the dog sang. "Well, why are you here in the forest?". "Oh, sorry we never answered you in the first place, we are in quite the rush, so can you get out of our way." Spice explained quickly. "Oh, which direction are you headed?" the dog asked. "Uh, uh, North, North. Um, actually I have no idea.". Spice sighed. "A while ago I saw a little girl holding hands, with huge gummy bears. Spice whispers to the girls "Does he only speak song?" "Yeah, I think so." Cutie exclaimed annoyed. "Okay, here I go." Spice cleared her throat. "oh where, oh
where did they go? Spice sang. "Ugh. Now our teacher is singing too." Cutie moaned. "they went through the gummy worm woods. Deep into the candy cane cave and over the sour ring river." "Um which direction is the gummy worm woods?" Spice asked. "And the candy cane cave." Sweety added "And the sour ring river." Cutie groaned.
Meanwhile, Crystal was still looking for clues. After only two hours, she found her first clue. It was a jolly rancher cinnamon ring. It was hot and spicy. It reminded Crystal of how much she missed Spice.
