I have learned so many cool facts and accomplishments of Jackie Robinson just from researching. I have also learned how to become a better researcher for the future. Throughout this book, there will be facts talking about Jackie Robinson's childhood, where he came from, what problems he faced, his advocacy, his accomplishments, and how he is remembered. Including all the pictures. You also get to learn about how life was back then. And also how racist people were. Black people had practically no rights at all during this time. It was only the whites. Anyways, have a fun time reading this book!

Where Robinson came from:
Jack Roosevelet Robinson was born on January 31, 1919, in Cairo Georgia. He has five siblings and he is the youngest. Robinson didn't have a dad when he was growing up and he went through poverty with his family. His dad’s name was Jerry and his mom’s name is Mallie. He attended John Muir High School and Pasadena Junior College and UCLA. But in his third year of UCLA, he dropped out to take care of his family. He was an athlete and played four sports including: basketball, baseball, track, and football. And in 1942, he joined the U.S. army.

Robinson’s Conflicts..issue/s he faced with growing up:
Growing up for Robinson was very difficult for him. He had to deal with racial abuse because he was black. Also, growing up Robinson didn't have a dad so he was self-taught for most things growing up. He joined the army after dropping out of college. When he was on the way to boot camp for the army, he got arrested for not giving up his seat on the segregated bus he was on. And when Robinson graduated high school, he didn't have enough courage to join the MLB because of the racial abuse and harassment people have caused him. He eventually persevered to play in the MLB a year later on the Dodgers. But it might not have been the best decision because his team suggested that he sit out and not play with him and the crowd starting harassing him.

Robinson’s Advocacy...How he got involved in their social justice fight
Well, when he got arrested for giving up his seat, his courage and to racial segregation impacted Jack Robinson that he would have in the MLB. When Jack Robinson started playing professionally he was tested before playing with the Dodgers, some of his new teammates objected to him. And his family received family threats. But besides the racial abuse, he had a great chance to play with the white men on the Dodgers. With the help of Rickey (the manager of the Dodgers), he was drafted to the Dodgers on October 23, 1945. This showed the other blacks that they can do whatever they want to do with perseverance even after going through a lot of trash talk. He was also considered an African American athlete. He was also involved with civil rights and social political causes.
