While researching my social advocate Lebron James, I learned a lot. Something that I learned was that he didn't have a perfect life, he had to go through struggles just like everyone else. He didn't start off as the star basketball player he is today, he used to just be a regular person like the rest of us. When reading this I hope you realise that he isn't special, he just worked hard for what he wanted and chased his dreams and that you should too.

Lebron James was born on December 30, 1984 in Akron Ohio. Akron has one of the highest crime rates in the United States. The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime there is one in 22. Lebrons mother was 16 years old when he was born. When he was young Waller picked Leron up, Waller was the local youth basketball coach and was how Lebron got interested in the sport. Lebron excelled at basketball. He was a star player at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron where his nickname was “King James”. Overall, James scored 2,657 points, 892 rebounds and 523 assists during his four years there. The NBA noticed and the media promoted him as the next NBA superstar.
Lebron was born in a very bad part of town. Arkon was not a good place for a young man to grow up at. There was a lot of crime happening around him. Also his mother was very young when she had him. She raised him well despite being so young and having to work many jobs. When Lebron was 9 years old, Gloria had him move in with Frank Waller and his family for stability. From there waller picked him up and showed him basketball. As soon as Lebron played he fell in love with the sport.
Lebron’s Foundation began the After-School All-Stars for the children of his hometown, Akron. The Foundation over the years has raised money and donated to the charity. It began as a bike-a-thon, “Wheels For Education” to raise money for children in Akron to help with education and a place to go after school. It developed into a program to help “at risk” children of Akron in a variety of ways. The program provides mentoring and help with education as well as extracurricular activities. The goal is to keep kids in school and encourage them to graduate. It begins in the third grade when students need to reach state standards to move up to the fourth grade. This foundation has helped a lot of kids in need and showed them that they can have a chance at life even though they were born in a bad place.
James was selected by his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the first overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft. In his first season game he scored 25 points, setting an NBA record for most points scored by a prep-to-pro player in his great performance. Over the years His accomplishments include three NBA championships, four NBA MVP Awards, three NBA Finals MVP Awards, and two Olympic gold medals. Lebron's teams appeared in eight consecutive NBA Finals. Off the court, James has made additional wealth and fame from many endorsement contracts. He has been ranked as one of America's most influential and popular athletes. He has been featured in books, documentaries, and television commercials.
