Ülkenin birinde yemyeşil ağaçların içinde bir köy varmış. Köyün kenarında masmavi bir dere akarmış. Dere kenarında öyle güzel çiçekler açarmış ki, bahar geldiğinde dere kenarı rengarenk olurmuş. Köyün bütün çocukları hep bu dere kenarında oyun oynarlarmış. Çocuklar burada çok eğlenirlermiş fakat büyük bir eksikleri varmış.

Bu güzel köyün güzel çocukları çevre temizliğine hiç dikkat etmezlermiş. Bütün gün dere kenarında,kırlarda oynar, eğlenirlermiş.Gün sonunda ise çevrelerine bıraktıkları çöpleri hiç önemsemeden evlerine dönerlermiş.

Yine kuşların cıvıl cıvıl öttüğü, ağaçların hafif bir esintiyle yapraklarını oynattığı, masmavi derenin şırıl şırıl aktığı bir gün tüm çocuklar yiyeceklerini alıp dere kenarına gelmişler. Dedelerinden ve ninelerinden öğrendikleri değişik ve eğlenceli oyunları oynamışlar. Dere kenarında pikniklerini yapıp, etrafa dağıttıkları çöplerini toplamadan, ellerinde kalan su şişelerini dereye atarak evlerine dönmüşler.

Ormandaki bilge Çınar etrafındaki çimenlerin yavaş yavaş sararmasına,rengarenk çiçeklerin solmasına, evlerinin yavaş yavaş yok olmasına çok üzülüyormuş. Bu çöplerin özellikle de pet şişelerin doğada kendiliğinden yok olması yıllar alıyormuş çünkü. O yüzden doğayı insanların temizlemesi gerekiyormuş. Çocukların yaptıkları hatayı anlamaları için ormandaki tüm canlılar bir araya gelip onlara bir ders vermek istemişler.

Çocuklar yine o güzel derenin aktığı ormana oyun oynamak için gelmişler. Fakat ormanda ters giden birşeyler varmış. Ne çiçekler ne hayvanlar hiçbiri ortalıkta görünmüyormuş. Ortalıkta sadece daha önce doğaya attıkları çöpler duruyormuş.Hatta orman o kadar kötü görünüyormuş ki hepsi korkmaya başlamış. İçlerinden cesaretini toplayan bir çocuk, arkadaşlarına ormandaki bitki ve hayvanları aramaları gerektiğni söylemiş.

Başlamışlar aramaya. Bu sırada yerdeki çöpler ve gelen kötü kokulardan çok rahatsız oluyorlarmış. Ağaçların dalından baykuş sesleri gelmeye başlamış. "Yaşasın, bulduk onları!" derken bir kükreme sesi duymuşlar. Çok korkmuşlar. Çünkü arslan ormanlar kralıymış. Çocukları izleyen bilge çınar onlara acımış.
