NATURE OF THE USA




Grizzly bear is brown bear living in the USA. It is omnivore, it eats everything - fish, mammals, mushrooms or berries.
Chipmunks are small striped animals living the forests. They eat seeds, nuts, worms and insect.


Yellowstone is the oldest national park in the world. It is famous for its wildlife and geothermal features.


The Colorado plateau is a desert region. There are nine national parks and many national monuments.

Cougar is the biggest cat of the USA. It is called a mountain lion.

Bald eagle is the national symbol of the USA.

Yellow warbler is a small bird living in the forests of the USA.

Pronghorn is also called prairie antelope. It can run very fast - about 53 miles an hour.



Alligators live in wetlands. They eat fish, frogs, birds and mammals.

Raccoon is nocturnal and omnivorous mammal. It lives in the forests and suburbs of towns.

American bison is called buffalo. It is the national mammal of the USA.

Mustang is a free living horse in the USA, descended from the horses brought to America by first colonists.

Sequoia is a redwood coniferous tree, the tallest in the world.

Rattle snake is a venomous snake, living in the USA. It makes noise with a rattle on its tail.
HISTORY OF THE USA



Original people living in North America are called Indians.
There are more than 570 Indian tribes in the USA.


Sitting Bull was a chief of Hunkpapa Lakota people.
He won the battle at the Little Bighorn. He defeated General Custer´ s army.


General Custer was a commander in the American Indian Wars. He was killed at the Little Bighorn battle.

The USA flag is called Stars and Stripes. There are thirteen stripes reminding of thirteen original colonies and fifty stars like fifty states nowadays.The Statue of Liberty is in New York.

George Washington led Thirteen colonies in their fight against Great Britain. He became the first president of the USA.

Abraham Lincoln was the 14th president of the USA. He abolished slavery. He was assassinated.

Harry S. Truman was the 33rd president of the USA. He is known for using atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Ronald Reagan was a Hollywood actor and the 40th president of the USA. He and Russian president Gorbatchev ended the Cold war.



Alan Shepard was the first American in the space and the fifth man on the Moon.
Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon. The mission to the Moon was called Apollo 11.
