It was a warm spring day when Logan and his mother went outside to plant flowers.

"Logan, it's finally spring and time to plant our flowers. Do you know why spring is the best time to start planting flowers?" asked Logan's mom

Logan stood there in the backyard unsure

"No mom! Why?" asked Logan in curiosity

"The best time to plant is in the spring because the ground starts to soften from the winter and the temperatures begin to warm up allowing the plants to use to heat to help them grow!" said Logan's mom

Logan began to get excited about planting his flowers.

"Logan, do you know the magic behind seeds turning into flowers?" asked his mom

Logan loved magic. He thought about the different ways in which seeds could turn into plants using magic like he had seen on TV.

"Do you say 'abracadabra' and then the flower grows? I've seen magicians pull flowers out of their hats before!" said Logan with excitement.

Logan's mom laughed. "Not that kind of magic silly" she stated. "A seed goes through many different phases of life; the first is a seed, then germination, then seedlings, and then they are finally an adult plant. The first stage is the seed. The seed is a protective covering that will grow into a big plant!"

"The next stage a seed goes through, is germination. This is the stage in which the seed starts to sprout and the roots start expanding!" said Logan's mom.

"Then after germination, you have the seedling stage" explained Logans mom. "This is where you start to see the early stages of the plant!"

"Then the final stage of the seed process, is the adult plant" said Logan's mom. "This is where the seed has fully matured and turned into a beautiful flower! The seed needs plenty of water and sun to help it grow big and strong like you!"

"That is magical mom!! I can't wait to help you do magic on the flowers!! What do we need to do first?" asked Logan.

"First we need to dig a patch to put the seeds in. Let's make sure there is plenty of soil. The soil is like their house. Lets dig right here!" said Logan's mom
