This book would supplement a 4th grade Life Science unit, with 4-LS1.A "We have internal and external body parts that help us meet needs like food and shelter."

is for Arm
Our arms help us reach for things on high shelves, open doors, and even hold hands with our friends!

is for Bones
We have bones in our bodies that help us stand up and bones that protect our brains, heart, and lungs. There are over 30 bones in each of your arms!

is for Carpals

A carpal is the name for each of the 8 bones in our wrists. They're clustered together in a way that lets us wave at each other from our cars!

is for Digit

A Digit is another word for your finger. Each hand has 5 fingers that we can wiggle, point, tap, and snap with! We can even turn the pages in a book!

is for Elbow

Our Elbows help us push doors open, exercise, and carry boxes. We use our elbows when we high-five our friends, wash windows, and direct attention!

is for Foot

We use our Feet to stand, walk, dance, and climb! From taking our first steps, our feet carry us through life!

is for Grip

Whether it's holding on to food while we eat it, taking a friend's hand to show support, or making a fist to knock on a door, we can do these things because of our Grip. We need our grip to take and give the things we need!

is for Humerous

Our funny bone, or the Humerous, is a bone in our upper arms that, among other things, hurts REALLY badly when we bump it on furniture!

is for Index Finger

"Hey! Look at this!" is something you might say when pointing with your Index Finger. It goes by several names, including "First" and "Pointer".
is for Joint

Every place your body bends is something called a joint. Joints, which are connections between bones, are like hinges on a door. In order for the bones to move, the joints must be there to help the bones move safely.

is for Knee

Even though it doesn't sound like it, Knee starts with a silent K. Our knees are very important. They're joints, so they help us move!
is for Leg

Thanks to the knees, our legs are able to keep us standing tall and proud. Some legs are made of metal, but they work the same way!

is for Mandible

Mandible is another name for your jaw bone. Your chin, mouth, and teeth are all part of your jaw! It helps you eat food and talk to friends!
is for Nose

Your nose helps you smell good foods, dangerous gas, and even other people! It's mostly soft bone-like material, which is why you can sort of wiggle your nose.

is for Olecranon

The O-le-cran-on is the part of your elbow that juts out. It's not really a bone, but a part of one of the bones in your lower arm!

is for Patella

Another word for Patella is kneecap! It's the bone that protects your knee joints. It moves with the bones in your leg to help you walk, sit, stand, and dance!
