For my English teacher.

In the middle of a National Park somewhere in Australia, there was a forest. This forest was full of life.

And in the forest was a young tree, named Willow. He was a strong tree, with big branches and luscious leaves. He was so proud of his foliage, he would show off to the animals below how amazing he looked in the sun.

He did not like when the animals would climb over him, eat his leaves and dig in his roots.
He most certainly did not like when the neighbour trees would stretch their branches over him.

One day, he woke up and felt even more squashed than ever and said to himself, I wish there were less trees here so I could be free.
He started to complain to the other trees and animals around him, until they would not talk to him anymore. This made him more angry about feeling trapped in the forest.

As summer came around for another year, the sun beat down on his leaves, drying them out. There was no rain that year and the forest and animals were always thirsty.
Animals came to shelter under Willow's branches huddling into the shade, they were so thirsty. Willow was worried that the rain would not come again.

One night, Willow saw a couple of humans walking through the forest, they carried strange containers and were laughing to themselves.
"I wonder where they are going" Willow thought to himself and wished he could kick up his roots and follow them.
He fell asleep dreaming of walking away from the forest that night.

Suddenly Willow woke to a frightening sight, the bright glow from the human's campsite was getting bigger, and the heat was unbearable. The forest looked like it was melting.

FIRE!

"We are on fire!" Willow cried to the trees, but there was nothing Willow could do. His luscious foliage burned and his strong branches scorched in the heat of the bush fire.
He watched as his animal friends ran for their lives and his neighbours fell all around him.

Willow looked around him, there were flashing lights and loud voices yelling to each other. It was more humans! He was angry at the humans, how could they have done this to his beautiful forest?

But the humans used hoses full of water to put out the fire surrounding Willow. He heard a loud noise from the sky as a flying machine rained water down over the forest, putting out the fire even more.
The fire was gone.
