The Choosing of the 12 Apostles
The mission of the twelve Apostles was to "gather the lost sheep", bringing those who were Jews to know the truth about Jesus and to believe in Him. Jesus chose his twelve Apostles to be the first bishops, and Peter as the first Pope, which is how this event contributes to the growing of the church.
Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Zealot, Judas, and Judas Iscariot
Then he summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness.
The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus; Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him. Jesus sent out these twelve after instructing them thus, “Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.‘ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts; no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep. (Matthew 10:1-10)
The twelve Aopostles were chosen in order establish the base of the church by having the first bishops.
The Birth of the Church from Jesus’
The church was born from Jesus side because he sacrificed himself for us, and because of him the church was started, that we may remember him forever.
"But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out." (John 19:33,34).
Jesus death and sacrifice was what started the church even before his resurrection.
The Great Commission
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28: 18-20)
The great commission was when Jesus gave the apostles the authority and the task to spread the word of the lord and to teach them everything that he taught them.
This lead to the beginning of the church because this is when Jesus gave them the power to build his church.
Ascension
The Ascension happened 40 days after Jesus resurrection when he left Earth and the Apostles. Jesus before he left the Apostles he showed then a path for them to each follow in order to build his church.
“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come
upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8.)”
Pentecost
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability (Acts 2:1-4).”
Pentecost was when the Holy Spirit can down to the Apostles, giving them the power to speak to people from all nations, allowing them to go out and spread the word of Jesus to all the nations of the world
After Pentecost is when the public ministry of the church started. It was the beginning of the church's preachings, and was when the Apostles truly birthed the church
