I dedicate this book to my mom who taught me how to fast and taught me about the specialties of Ramadan. She helped me become who I am today.

I am currently an eighth grade student at Crescent Academy International and I am going to high school soon. I want to give some advice to you guys out there before I go on to a new place. I want to give all of you some advice on how to use your time wisely during Ramadan. Ramadan only comes around once a year and you should try to take as much advantage of it as possible. Ramadan goes by quickly and before you know it, the 30 day are over. I have learned over the years that Ramadan is very special and that I shouldn’t just let the month go by without getting closer to Allah. When I was younger, I never really understood the spiritual part of Ramadan even though many people used to say to me that Ramadan is more about your relationship with Allah. They used to say that it is trying to fast from the bad deeds than we may have done before rather than it is the physical fasting. I regret wasting some of the Ramadan’s that came by when I know I could have done better. I want to make sure that you guys have the chance to take advantage of every single day in Ramadan. Look forward to Ramadan and start planning how YOU are going to change yourself this year for the better.
One goal or piece of advice I want to share with you guys about using your time wisely during Ramadan is to set goals for yourself and hold yourself responsible to them. Before Ramadan starts, try to take some time to sit down and think to yourself what you want to accomplish this Ramadan. Come up with goals and also come up with ways that you can make sure to see if you are close to achieving your goal or not. Don’t make these goals something you started out trying to accomplish then at one point forgot and gave up and never really completed it. One way I think you can keep yourself accountable to your goals in Ramadan is to set reminders to yourself in any way. For example, on your phone, you can set a reminder that reminds you every ten days or so to check up on how you’re doing with accomplishing that goal. This way you can see how much you’re progressing and whether or not you need to work harder.
Goal setting and making sure to be reliable on them is something very important during Ramadan because this is the time to grow and try to get as close to your Lord as possible. When you set goals, it helps you become even closer to Allah because the goals are based on you trying to find ways to get closer to Him and make yourself a better muslim which pleases him. In conclusion, you should try setting goals for ourselves in Ramadan and making sure to accomplish them. You should also remember to make your goals for yourself based on what you want and where you are, not based on other’s journey’s and opinions.
