This story is to recognize the impact that Amelia Earhart has made to our history. Amelia Earhart is a courageous American aviator who had created many flying records. This story will go through the accomplishments she has made throughout her life.

On July 24, 1897 Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas. Little did she know that she was going to become this famous historical figure for the United States of America.
When Amelia was 10 years old she went to a fair, and saw an airplane for the very first time. She became so fascinated with it!

Before Amelia became a famous aviator she actually helped nurses in Toronto, Canada. They would help heal wounded soldiers in World War 1.

After the World War, a man name Frank Hawks took Amelia Earhart on her first ride in an airplane. This is when Amelia knew she wanted to fly an airplane.

Amelia Earhart took flying lessons and got her official pilot license in 1923. She was the sixteenth woman to ever receive a pilot license.

"Look at my first airplane! It's a Kinner Airster. I know you can't see the color, but I promise you it's bright yellow! I like to call it the Canary."

On May 20, 1932 Amelia Earhart, set flight to make history as the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. She flew her new plane, the Lockheed Vega. Her plan was fly from Canada to France.

Amelia Earhart's plan to land in France had to change because of a storm blocking her path. She now decided to try to land in Northern Ireland.

After 16 long hours Amelia Earhart landed safely in a cow field in northern Ireland. Which means she officially made history as the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean.

A few years after she made history from her flight across the Atlantic ocean, and a few other record breaking flights, she began to plan her next big trip. She wanted to fly around the world. She wrote to President Roosevelt asking if he can help her out with stopping places to get gas from the Navy throughout her trip.
