Here's to all the dreamers, big or small, young or old.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929 in rural Georgia.
His parents were Michael King Sr. and Alberta Williams King.
He was the middle child in his family.

Both his father and grandfather were Baptist preachers.
Martin Luther King Jr. was also a preacher at the same church, Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Even though he was given a good education, he still experienced discrimination.

Because of this, he lost some friends that he made at non-segregated schools.
He had to go to segregated schools.
In 1944, at age 15, Martin Luther King Jr. entered the Morehouse College in Atlanta.
The summer before he entered college, he worked at a tobacco farm in Connecticut.
It was the first time he had been away from home .

While in Connecticut, MLK Jr. noticed that people were not as mean.
Black people were allowed to eat anywhere they wanted.
They even got to go to the same church without being judged by the color of your skin.

But his father wanted him to enter the ministry.

While at Morehouse College, King wanted to study medicine and law.
So he joined the ministry and became a preacher just like his father and grandfather.
While studying to become a preacher, he had a great role model.
He was a social gospel activist who believed in equality for everyone.
His teacher, Benjamin Mays, inspired him so much.

This inspired King Jr. to continue the fight against racial inequality.
It was something that was already bothering King. So, it was quite easy for him to join his teacher in the fight.
King later went on to graduate from Morehouse College in 1948.

After graduating, he continued his education at Crozer Theological Seminar in Chester, Pennsylvania.
He later graduated from there in 1951 with a degree in divinity. From there, he went to Boston University.
King was elected President of Crozer's student body.
