Halloween. A time of trick or treating, haunted houses and monsters. A time when things that go bump in the night seem a little more real than any other time of the year. And the time when a good ghost story brings chills down your spine and has you looking over your shoulder.

    And do I have a story to tell...

I always thought that I could handle anything that came along. I wasn't the type to get scared when ghost stories were told or I was left in total darkness, but then I was told about this house... what the locals always said was haunted. Well, naturally I was intrigued by the thoughts of going to that house. Especially with Halloween fast approaching.

    Of course when I asked my friends no one wanted to go with me. They had already heard the stories and wanted no part of my great adventure, but that didn't bother me. As I've said I wasn't scared of anything! 

    So while my friends went off trick or treating, I put on my favorite pair of jeans, a hoodie and my long black trench coat. Gotta look the part of a great ghost hunter, right?

    As I walked up to the house, it didn't look like a haunted house. In fact, it didn't look like much at all. Just an old farmhouse that had definitely seen better days.

    I had a good flashlight and as I walked up onto the porch I clicked it on and started to look around.

    Upon first glance, there was nothing remarkable on the porch. But whoever lived here had left in a hurry. There was still chairs on the porch abandoned. Curtains hung in shreds and blew out the windows that had lost their glass long ago.

    I opened the door which opened easily considering how old the house was and how long it had sat empty. It was almost like someone had oiled the hinges, knowing that I was coming. Maybe I should have turned back then, but not me! Remember, I'm not afraid of anything!
