Ralph woke up for school. He was getting dressed and looked in his closet. He reached for his hero costume that he usually wears, but then he saw his monster costume.
He woke up feeling mad, so he put his monster costume on and went to school.
He saw his friends Ollie and Sydney at school but did not say hello to them. Ralph walked past them without saying a word.
"Hey! Good morning Ralph," Ollie said.
"It is not that good," said Ralph,
"Ralph, it's a great morning!" said Sydney
"I do not want it to be a good morning." Ralph walked away to class.
What Does a Good Morning Look Like?

In class, Ralph, Sydney, and Ollie all sat at their desks. Ralph noticed Sydney and Ollie were wearing their hero costumes, and they looked different than he did.
He started teasing his Friends.
"You two look weird. Why are you wearing that?" Ralph said.
"We like our hero costumes. It reminds us to be kind and a friend," Sydney said to Ralph.

"You look weird," Ralph said as he walked past her. He pushed Ollie's pencils off of his desk.
Their class left for activity. Sydney and Ollie looked at each other and were embarrassed and upset. They wondered why Ralph was being mean.
In art class, Ralph was stomping through the room taking things that did not belong to him. He took paint brushes and papers out of his classmates' hands while they were using them. When they told him to stop, he would stick out his tongue and call them names.
What is Ralph doing to make him seem like a bully?
Can you come up with three ways Ralph could have been a friend instead while he was in art class?
At lunch, Ollie and Sydney saw Ralph tripping kids in the cafeteria.
"Ralph, stop being such a bully!" Ollie said.

"Ever since you came to school in that monster costume, you have been mean. Why did you choose to put that on today? You are way more friendly when you wear your hero costume."

"Maybe I don't want to be friendly! It's not a friendly day!" Ralph yelled, becoming upset. He didn't know why he felt so unfriendly, but he knew it wasn't good to be this way.
After lunch, Ollie and Sydney went to their teacher to tell her that Ralph was being mean and unfriendly. Their teacher decided to have a special lesson on empathy that afternoon.
