Every day Inayah passed by the same candy shop on her way home from school. But, she never went in because her Nana had told her to come straight home from school

Inayah watched as other kids walked in the candy shop and came out with bags full of gumballs, sour cherries, twizzlers, and taffy. She wanted to go in, but her Nana's words vibrated in her ears.

Inayah decided that when she got home, she would ask Nana for permission to visit the candy shop after school the next day.

Nana, can I go to the candy store after school tomorrow?

I can take you on Saturday, honey. I am expecting to see a great report card on Friday and we will celebrate on Saturday at the candy shop! Make sure you come straight home from school. I will worry if you come home late. 

The next day Inayah passed by the candy store as she always did after school. She hung her head down and shoved her hands into her pockets as she passed by.

As her hands reached the bottom of her pocket, she felt a crinkled up paper. She pulled it out and discovered a $10 bill! She couldn't believe her eyes! Inayah thought, "This would buy me all the candy I want!" Without a second thought, she headed toward the door of the candy shop and walked in to what seemed like a dream. 

From wall to wall, and ceiling to floor, was candy of every shape, color, and flavor! Inayah didn't know where to start. There was so much to choose from. She filled a bag with her favorite candies smiling the whole time. As soon as she paid for her bag of candy, she shoved a few pieces in her mouth. All the way home, she ate her bag of candy, savoring every bite. 

By the time she got home, there was only one gummy bear left in the bag. She shoved the bag in her back pack and walked in Nana's house. Inayah went straight to her bedroom and laid on her bed groaning from a stomach ache.
