I dedicate this book to all children. Enjoy

Enuma and her mom are from a village in Aba, Nigeria.

In Enuma’s village, she attends St. Margaret’s private school where she wears her favorite uniform. In school, she has learned how to read fluently, write, and speak fluent English in her third-grade class. Enuma loved school and was always eager to learn.

One day after school, Enuma and her best friend Kwame were walking home to their village. Suddenly they noticed a loud boom and shooting noise. They were both frightened.

They both ran home as fast as they could and Enuma dropped her school books. Enuma told Kwame, “I dropped my books.” Kwame replied, “we cannot go back to Enuma, it is dangerous out here.” “We have to get home,” Kwame insisted.

"I dropped my books!"

"We cannot go back Enuma!"
They finally made it to their village. Enuma ran into her home and locked the door. Enuma’s mom questioned, “why are you breathing so hard?”

“Why are you breathing so hard?”

Enuma replied,” there were a lot of gunshots leaving school.” “Oh No! Her mother shouted.” Her mother knew the gunshots came from the refugee camps (temporary accommodation for people who have been forced to flee their homes). Enuma’s mom begins to get very worried. Her mom told her, “this will be her last week attending school in Nigeria''.

Enuma was very sad.

The next day Enuma and Kwame walked to school and Enuma’s mom told them “to be careful and stay together.”

Kwame asked Enuma, “what’s wrong?” Enuma replied, “This is my last day week in Nigeria, my mom and I are moving to the United States.”
“Why are you up and leaving like this, we are best friends.” “When you leave who is going to be my best friend?” Kwame said.
Enuma told her Kwame, “we will forever be best friends and I am going to miss you so much!”

The next week is here and Enuma is sad about leaving her village in Aba, her school, and her best friend, Kwame.

She and her mother are boarding the plane heading to the United States (country). On the plane, Enuma’s mom told her daughter that they are moving to the peach state known as Georgia (state), but to be more specific Atlanta, Georgia (city).

Flying on the plane for many hours, they finally landed in the United States. When Enuma and her mother got off the plane, they both felt like they were in a new world. Seeing how big the airport was, the traffic outside the airport, and the number of different people traveling. They both begin to smile and Enuma exclaimed “I love it here!”

Enuma and her mom rode in an Uber(taxi) leaving from the airport. Enuma asked her mom, “where are we going?” Her mom said, “our new home.” Enuma was very anxious to see their new home.
On the way to their new home, they passed Obama Elementary School. Enuma’s mom pointed and said, “that will be your new school.”

When they finally arrived at their new home, Enuma and her mom loved their new apartment and the grocery stores and shopping centers were within walking distance from their home. They even noticed the school was only three minutes from her new home. Enuma was so excited and could not wait to start her new school.

The next day Enuma and her mom walked to her new school.

Upon entering her new school, Enuma’s heart was beating like a wild animal trying to escape her chest. Her mom could tell how nervous she was. Enuma noticed the students in the school were not wearing uniforms and the school was way bigger than her school back home in the village.

Enuma noticed all the student’s work, pictures, and awards on the walls in the school. She also noticed it was culture week at the school where the students can wear their favorite clothing that represents their culture. Enuma was very happy.

Enuma’s mom finally got her paperwork and enrollment done for the school so that she could start school that day. The principal told Enuma, “you are going to have a great day and your classroom number is 305, Ms. Johnson’s class”.
