Story overview:
In this story, there was a turtle names Timmy. He loved trains but he did not love to share. While Timmy is in kindergarten, he learns what it means to share and why it is important. Keep reading to find out how Timmy deals with his emotions and if he decides to share or not.
In class we talked about children being egocentric. When children are egocentric, they only think about themselves and what they want to do. In my book, Timmy doesn’t think he should share because he likes to play with the train and he does not want to. This is the perfect example of a child only doing what they want to do. In Piaget’s second stage of cognitive development, he says that children and “egocentric and struggle to see things from the perspective of others”. In My book, this describes Timmy the turtle to a tee.

Timmy is a turtle who LOVES trains.
He is in Mrs. White's Kindergarten class.

Timmy has two best friends named Bart and Odie. They love to play together.

One day while the three friends were playing, Odie decided that he really wanted to play with Timmy's train. Timmy played with the train everyday and he wasn't very good at sharing with his friends.

"OOOO! Can I play with your train?"

When Bart heard this, he decided he wanted a turn with the train too.

"Yes!! I want a turn too!"

Timmy did not like this idea. "How come I have to share my toys?" Timmy asked. "This is not fair."

When the Mrs. White heard what was going on, she decided to go over and see what was up.

When Mrs. White got to the carpet, Timmy started to cry as he told her that he did not like to share. He explained that he loved the train the most so he should be able to play with it the most.

When Mrs. White was done talking to Timmy, she decided that it was time to have a class talk.
